I'm really struggling to get enough protein at the moment and am really concerned as I'm currently training for a marathon.

In all honesty, I'm lacking motivation to eat so any meal ideas which are yummy and high in protein would be very much appreciated!

my wife is vegetarian but she eats pretty simple stuff. Gardein products, protein powder (all veggie based), rice, salads, veggies, walnuts, almonds, little cheese, yogurt (I hear greek yogurt is great), eggs (not sure if you eat those), Coconut milk/almond milk etc.

home made soups, meatless chili, stir frys with tofu etc.

I'm not vegetarian, but I did just get a free sample of Sunwarrior protein powder in the mail, and tried it today. It's completely vegetarian - rice protein - and it was pretty darn tasty. Low cal / low carb / soy-free / gluten-free etc. I found them from a friend of mine on Facebook, but they do have a website. Good stuff.

    Thanks guys.

@ drog2323 - I eat fairly basically anyway although I could definitely include some nuts. Am having a look though the website.

@ artemisacorn- looks interesting, can I be nosey and ask how you got your sample?

    no problemo. good luck

yah, you could also try some almond butter (good stuff) all natural PB as well.

    soy protein powder perhaps.

There is a product line here in Canada called Sequel Vega...google them. The guy is a tri-athelete and vegetarian. He has some good bars, proteins, etc out there.

  • I am a vegetarian and have NO problems getting enough protein. As long as I eat eggs and nuts and a little cheese, I normally get more than enough. Also, lentils, beans, and my favorite, peanut butter are favorites. You could also get some powdered egg whites and add them to smoothies. With 1 cup yogurt and like 1/ 8 cup powdered egg whites you can get a ton of protein.

Sure - they were offering them on Facebook. When I was poking around on their website though, I saw that there was a question about whether they offered samples on their FAQ and they gave an email address and information on what to do to get a sample.

6oz of Greek yogurt is 18g of protein, by the label. I get Chobani as it's what my grocer has to sell.
It also has excellent enzymes to improve general digestion.

    Thank you all!

The main thing that makes it difficult is I'm recovering from an eating disorder so I get panicky if it's high calorie. However this weekends mission is to find some more recipes which are higher in protein which I feel I could start with.

May also seriously look for and try protein powder

Holland & Barrett sell a protein mince called "Neals Yard Soya Protein Mince", (in chunks or minced, flavoured or unflavoured). I use it probably more during this cold weather, about twice a week for things like Shepherd's Pie, Spag Bol Lasagne etc. In fact, we had a delicious Sh/Pie last night for 236cals and 19g of Protein and 1g of fat.

Lentils, beans, cheese, nuts and eggs are our other main sources of protein. I love Pnut butter and almond butter.

As I veggie family we don't eat anything that's had a face, so no tuna salmon etc.
