I'm over on carbs by 21. Is that bad? What will the effects of that be? Not just one day, but assuming I was over that for a while. I know that if you go over on sodium you should drink a lot of water, and you shouldn't go over on sodium because of the effects sodium has on your body. Well, what about carbs? I'm not over my calorie goal, in fact I'm under by 80.

The only issues with exceeding carb intake without exceeding caloric intake are:

    1) Reduced protein intake
    and/or
    2) Reduced fat intake.
    and possibly
    3) Increased water retention.

Neither of the above are ideal, but if it happens here and there it's not a big deal whatsoever.

EDIT: Good catch MikeSEA, see below.

There are medical conditions where excessive carbs can be a problem. If you don't have a reason to think those are an issue, i wouldn't worry about it.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....THE SKY IS FALLING...

    hehe

as sidesteal said, you should be fine. Personally, if I eat too many processed foods (read: high in less than ideal carbs), I have trouble with weight loss. Also, eating more refined sugar/processed food makes it more difficult to avoid cravings throughout the day. However, for other people, so long as you have a caloric deficit, you're fine.
