Going from 2 to 3 kids

We are really on the fence about this. I HATE being pregnant (labor and delivery are fine), but I LOVED having lots of brothers and sisters growing up (five of us). I know that no one with 2+ kids is going to say they regret it, but does anyone have advice that is going to push me either way?

Of course, this would happen AFTER I reach my weight goals. And I will try not to gain 60 pounds again. :)

I have 2 daughters & I personally want another so so bad (baby fever ) but I am not going to even try until I am at goal. My sister is pregnant right now & it's making my fever even worse
  • I've got 2 now, an 8 month old boy and a 4 year old boy. Would love more, but if it happened anytime soon I would probably need to be heavily medicated. Good luck to you!

I know about this fever!!! I held a baby today and it was wonderful! Are you going to try for a boy also? I am actually hoping that we have another girl!!!

I am in the middle of 8 kids; and while growing up there was always someone to do things with, money was always tight so I swore I would never have that many kids and I didn't. We had two; one of each. However, my daughter now 23, says she will have 3 or 4 kids cause she hated that there was only two of them. She likes when my family gets together and says she feels cheated because it will always just be her and her brother no large gatherings. Who knew???

Huh, those are some really interesting perspectives!!! Thank you! Family gatherings USED to be super fun and then my family all started fighting, so not so much anymore....

I agree, I think if it's possible, children should have at least two siblings. That way they're always speaking to at least one of them. My mom is one of five, and her mom was one of ten, and our family reunions are so much fun, it makes me feel sorry for people with small extended families.

But keep in mind that if you have more than two children, you will have to switch from a man-to-man defense to a zone defense. It takes a little more planning and organization. Although, if your oldest is old enough, you can sometimes get him/her to play for your team...

Hey! I have 3 boys and while I love them dearly I only wish they were spaced out a little farther bc at times I feel like I don't have any time for myself. However I love having them and would consider having another but after my 8 month old is in school. But at that point I think it'll be a wrap! :o)

Love the zone defense metaphor! Wow, you all are really convincing me to go for 3!! Any opinions on age differences? My two girls are 2.5 years apart.

What do you think is an ideal age difference? 3 years? I think I am headed for that...

Profile pic is my third. He wasn't planned but not an oops either. He just happened and he is a wonderful gift. I'm glad we didn't think about it too much because if we had we probably would have decided against it.

Three is a definite game changer, but it's great. Honestly I wish we hadn't started so late because I wouldn't mind one more...not going to happen.

my two girls are 11 months apart.. if i get pregnant right away, theyll be 5 and 6 when # three comes along. (might both be 6, depending on timing..) there were 3 years between me and sister 1.. 5 years between me and sister 2. i think 3 or 4 years between is perfect

I have 3, ages 11, 6, and 4. It is definitely zone defense, but to me three feels right. If you only have two, there is no possibility to grow up with a brother and a sister. You also get the whole first, last, and middle child thing going on, which is pretty cool. It is a much more dynamic family with three kids.

On the other hand, you do have to upsize cars. Most restaurant tables are for 4. Lots of stuff is sold in 2 or 4 or 6 packs. Little things like that, where society just isn't designed for a family of 5.

Thanks SO much everyone. I guess I don't have to be pushed off the fence too hard!!! Maybe if I lose some weight before getting pregnant, I won't be as sick this time. I am definitely going to go for a 3 year spread, though!!! Thank you!

I also have three. (all boys, ages 6, 4 and 1). The 3rd was a surprise, but a happy surprise. The two older boys are soooo good with the little one. They look out for him, play nicely with him, comfort him when he's upset, etc. Some days I actually think I MIGHT want another (try for the little girl) but I probably won't. Three feels complete... plus, some days my sanity is hanging by a thread. But, I wouldn't change anything.
