Bruising

I seem to be bruising alot lately and I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing that as well as a result of weight loss. I have heard it can happen with anorexics but I am a long way from there
Of course I have taken up gymnastics so that could be responsible for the extra but it seems like I bruise so much easier than I used to.

Are you eating enough protein?
I had this problem when I was playing basketball and basically following a vegeterian diet. I wasn't eating enough protein to allow my body to take the bumps in a game without bruising. Once I added meat back to my diet this problem went away.0 -
Iron supplements should help. There are many protien sources other than meat, if you're a veggie.0

Ive been thinking the same thing. I bruise so easy all the time. Everyday I look and have another big bruise-interesting.0

I'd make sure you are getting enough iron, my chiropractor was worried I would bruise from treatment if I wasn't getting enough iron so I started taking multivitamins just to make sure I'm getting my daily intake of iron.0

Sounds to me like you need to eat foods high in iron.0 -
Thanks for responding everyone. I do get a reasonable amount of protein but I have been suspecting a possible lack of iron myself. I started taking a multivitamin yesterday but I guess it will take time to see if there is an improvement.0

Bit of a BUMP for everyone, HOLY CRAP the bruising I have on myself atm is horrendous!
I look like ive falled down a flight of stairs, a few times! :sad:0 -
Also the time of the month, can make a difference to. I once had a physical therapist notice my leg bruising weeks after having major knee surgery She mentioned that the time of the month (before or after), low iron, anemia, and low protein levels all can contribute to this to. A good multi vitamin and extra protein did the trick for me.0
