Need exercise for specific area

My husband's Marine Corps Ball is only 12 days away. I have a dress I want to wear, but when I tried it on, I couldn't zip it all the way up. What exercises can I do to tone up the area around my ribs (just belows my breasts)? I don't feel I have much to lose there, but that's the only area preventing me from wearing this beautiful dress.

No idea, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels they have fat stored there.

I hate to be the one to break it to you but there is no such thing as "spot reduction".
Eat well (avoid salt, sugar and processed foods), lift lots of heavy stuff and do a minimum of 30 minutes of INTENSE cardio several days a week and you'll lose the fat that's mucking up that spot but likely not in a couple weeks. Unfortunately, you're not going to side bend, crunch, twist or whatever that area away (especially not in 12 days).
Good luck:drinker:0 -
not sure any specific exercise would help in just 12 days...more cardio for an extended period of time will trim it though. What may work and has worked for me in the past is to go to a spa and have a body wrap done for cellulite and let them know your specific area you want to concentrate on. You will loose a few inches of water weight even though it is temporary. It does work. But you may want to do it the day of or day before the ball. Enjoy0

Spot reduction is a myth, eat sensible and workout....eventually it will go away.0

Girl buy a Spanx and it will smooth it all out. Have fun and get back to work on things the next day. As the above poster said in less than 2 weeks you will probably not see a huge difference in that area but it will happen over time. Good luck & have fun!!0 -

I can't think about any exercise that would tone up this area (she never said "fat spot reduction"!!!). I think because of the ribs (bones), in fact, you will only ADD inches rather than lose inches if you work out this area at this stage (only 12 days away).
The muscle group around here is called the lats (for laterals), so perhaps a few lats exercise?

What you can try to do is reduce quantity of food, and not drink as much water/avoid salty food prior to the event (3-4 days before perhaps). But 12 days is really short notice for your body.
Corset as others suggested seems to be the best idea.0 -
Corset is the best idea given the time frame.
Other than Lypo-suction (sp?) spot reduction is nigh impossible. The closest one can get without surgery is through he use of intense massage of the area of interest to improve circulation and possibly balance out the body's draw down of fat cells. One method is body weight massage via a foam roller. Lay it on the ground, then lay on top of it and roll out a local area. They can be bought online at fitness sites as well as literature on their use. Thats the most natural way to approach "stubborn fat". Those areas which seem to be the last to go during loss. But regardless, fat draws down across the whole body so spot reduction is impossible.

I am hoping spanx works. I don't need to lose much in that area, actually, I really didn't feel I needed to slim down there at all until I tried on the dress. I honestly didn't even think I'd be able to get the dress on, but since it's so close to fitting, I will try my hardest to be able to get into it by then.0
