Reward Strategy

Do you believe in rewarding yourself for every accomplishment/goal? I used to reward myself with a dessert or something like that whenever I met my goal. However, I've been reading that it's not a good strategy to reward yourself with food. What are some good rewards that could make me feel better about what I'm doing and make the struggle less hard without compromising my weight loss? I'm trying to lose 40 lbs and I'm also wondering what kind of goals I should set for myself. I've always just done the "I need to lose 5 lbs" thing so this is big for me. HELP!!!!

Buying new clothes in a smaller size is a great reward for losing 40 lbs0

mani/pedi or go all out for a full spa day
new clothes (piece by piece)
an adventure trip (biking or hiking kind of thing)
a rest day
a new book/cd/movie

That's tough best I can really think of is set higher goals and allow the rewards that way they don't really set you back. Say instead of losing 5lbs and getting a reward make it 10, or 15. Or go out and buy yourself some new clothes instead of rewarding with food?0

that is my goal , new clothes , well and I lost 15 pounds in one month so i colored my hair that was a reward for me , i normally don't spend the money on myself0

@JacMcCreath - Of course when I lose the 40lbs I'll probably have to buy new clothes anyway. I dont' think I could buy new clothes the whole way down though. I keep thinking about the waste of money!
@carrriebear - I was thinking about dvds, books, etc. Good ideas.
@cirellim - I like the way you think. I will have to set my goals higher... probably 10 lbs. It's a good loss and a hard reach but not drastic. Thanx!!!
@celewis2011 - I really wanted to go darker with my hair (even tho my brunette strands are so close to being black anyways lol). That's something I never thought about. Changing size means a new look! Love it!!!! Thanks!!!!!
