A good goal for sugar?

Hello, all. I have been looking through my diary and realizing that I almost always exceed my daily sugar allowance given to me by MFP. I believe most of my intake comes from fruit and yogurt. I do not add sugar to coffee or tea or anything else. I don't see how I can follow MFP's allowance, so I was wondering if anyone has an idea about how many grams I should try to limit myself to. I am a 22 year old woman if this helps or matters any...

I am also interested in this... let me know!0

No need to limit yourself :] Calorie deficit i what matters! Fruit and yogurt are mostly natural sources (depending on the yogurt)
Qhat kind of yogurt? Yoplait usually isnt worth the sugar but chobani brand sure is!0 -
True, I am just trying to make my diet all around a healthier one, not just lose weight. So still have lots to learn
The yoplait lights are what I usually buy. The amount of sugar in them is ridiculous, that's also what made me notice. They taste yummy though. I've never heard of chobani or tried greek yogurt (not even sure what the difference is) but I just might check it out.0 -
I remove fruit and veggie sugars from my total and try to stay under that way. altho this time of year the candy is what gets me anyhow0

Try and not go over 40grams of added sugar, but natural sugars the body can break down easily.0

my dietician told me 30-35g of added sugar and not to worry about sugars from fruits.
and i agree with sunshine about the yogurt. i usually do plain greek yogurt and add my own fruit and stuff, but sometimes ill "splurge" and get the chobani flavored stuff0 -
I would go for around 200g of sugar each and every day.0

I would go for around 200g of sugar each and every day.

I would pick a better yogurt then if you are looking to be healthier :]
I LOVE plain chobani (or any plain greek yogurt really) With berries on top :}0 -

No I meant 200g.0 -
Greek yogurt has way more protein :] Thats why I eat it! Chobani plain has around 17-18g per 6 oz serving and only 7g of sugar
I used to really love Anderson Erickson yo light too :] Low in sugar too0 -
If you're going to do yogurt, definitely switch to greek yogurt (2x the protein!!). Also, to avoid added sugar, you have to go with plain yogurt. Add some honey, sugar free jam, sugar free jello mix, fruit, or something to help with the taste.
I mix chocolate PB2 (powdered peanut butter w/chocolate chunks) and just a tiny bit of Truvia and it's delicious, with about as little sugar as one can get when eating yogurt.
The yoplait and other flavored yogurts are extremely high in sugar -- and much of it is "added sugar."0 -
Yeah, I think I shall give this greek yogurt a try.. I do have a coupon for them somewhere, can't remember the brand though. I think I'll try it with raspberries yum0

I don't worry at all about my sugar intake but I average around 50-75g per day. Seems to be working great for me so far.0

I don't bother tracking it.0

i just ran my report for sugar intake, i'm generally in the 45-80, hit over a 100 a few days0
-
Today I hit 136g sugar. I don't usually pay attention to it.0

Mine's set at 40. I don't eat a lot of fruit and I watch my intake. I find that keeping sugar low keeps my weight loss on track.
I just re-entered the world of greek yogurt. I tried it once a while back and just couldn't get past the tangyness. Then someone suggested mixing it with peanut butter. So that's what I did. I took one container of Chobani non fat plain and added 1 tbs natural pb to it and mixed it thoroughly. It was great!0 -
My goal for sugar is: Eat it when I feel like it.0
