How do I manage it... honestly? I simply keep reminding myself exactly why I'm doing it. For my daughter. Because I want to be there when she graduates, and dance at her wedding, and hold my grandchildren, and attend THEIR college graduation, and stay as healthy and active as possible as I get older.
And right now, while I'm still in my 40s, I want to make the most of whatever "pretty time" I've got left--I want to wear cute clothes (shallow though that may seem!), and go dancing, and LIVE! So I'll eat one of those fun-size candy bars... just for the taste... then I'll make myself stop. For her. And for me. You can do this!0 -
Feel free to add me as a friend. I can tell you that you need to incorporate some sweets into your calories. I do all the time and have lost 54 lbs so far. I still have a whole Jack's pepperoni pizza usually once a week. I still have donuts at least once a week sometimes more. I just make sure to keep the exercise up and push myself hard at the gym and while I run and eat well the rest of the day. I've found that if I cut out all the sweets that I will have absolutely no self-control when I do eat them.0

Wow you don't know how happy I am to hear that! I've been depriving myself of any sweets or junk for 3 weeks now and I'm starting to get crazy cravings but I'm feeling so guilty about wanted them but I end up falling into a rut So I'm glad to hear you can cheat a little bit here and there and it's not the end of the world!0 -
Sorry you're struggling. We've all been there. I think everyone has to figure out what works for them. For me there are some "bad" foods I allow myself to have because I can control myself and keep it in moderation. But there are other foods (french fries!!!!) that I just don't eat because once I have one I want a million...everyday. I don't crave them anymore, but know I would if I started eating them again.
Feel free to add me as a friend. I try to pay forward all the support I have gotten and continue to get from others here.0 -
I went through exactly the same thing last week! Honestly! I'd been on here just under 2 months and started to find it really difficult to keep on track. I decided to do a post like this the other day and the overwhelming feedback and support from everyone has made me want to really go at it again. Add all the friends you can, hopefully they'll motivate you as much as they have done me. Also, look at the success story pictures on the forum, that's a really good motivator too. I've just sent you a friend request0

Remember, just like mhopp71 said when you incorporate them into your food plan, it isn't "cheating!" It's just part of a healthy, moderate diet - we eat for sustenance AND pleasure! You are doing GREAT!0 -
I hear you! There are some hard times we have to go through. As some people said, don't deprive yourself of everything you like; make sure you have those things with moderation.
We're all here to help each other
Wish you the best of luck!0 -

I'm in the same boat with you there. I been struggling the past couple of days too, wanting more food, sweets, etc. Don't completely deprive yourself because it'll make you crazy. You could try rewarding yourself with a tiny little piece of chocolate or something at the end of the day. It's always worth it to eat right during the day to reward myself at night! Good luck!0

I am in that boat currently. This year I finally got my mind straight and have lost 17 of the 25 pounds I am aiming for. I have managed to up my exercise tremendously and really watch my portions and hold off on over-indulging in my cravings. But now it is Halloween and I have a 4 year old daughter. Next is Christmas. I am not the type of mom that would completely deprive my child of the joys of trick or treating and I love to see the little ones at my own home. Tonight the candy bowl got filled and I did overdo it a bit, probably five too many fun size candy bars.
Which is probably why I am on MFP a little longer tonight. Gotta get my mindset on track again. Tomorrow morning I will have an awesome workout. Will do the same on Sunday and I will not over-indulge again. My goal is to get through the holidays by enjoying my favorite goodies in moderation. I know the support on this site will help! Feel free to add me. We can do this!0 -
I dont deprive myself but yes there a a couple of things i just cant buy like skinny cow I will eat the whole package, dried fruit i cant stop.. So dont deprive but be sensible. And you can add me0

Absolutely agree. I've lost 25 by trying to eat better all of the time, but not depriving myself all of the time. Had cotton candy and caramel apples at the fair this past summer. I recommend 2 things: stay within your calories and try to decide what you're going to eat in advance - planning works! Remember, this is about long term life goals. You need a plan you can live with.0 -
hi, yes i totally agree with you, i think i need to allow myself a little something every now and then. well done on your progress so far, you are doing fantastic!0
