I was wondering if i walked for an hour with two babies in a double stroller would that burn more calories then pushing and/or pulling with one child?

Is this a truely serious question?0

um yes? is it too silly or something?0

Do you have reason to believe it would not be more calories burned?0

There are too many unknowns. It will depend on your exertion level of when you're walking. Size of children in the strollers. Etc.
If you're just going out for a stroll on level ground, I wouldn't think it would make too much of a difference. If you're adding an extra 25-30 pounds, pushing uphills, and going at a pretty good clip, then yes, I think you'd burn more calories.0 -

due to the general inaccuracies in the measuement of burnt calories, I think you are being too specific here. Ie... if there were an actual measurable difference, how would you account for it? How many "extra" calories would you add?
The point being any difference inbetween the two is not going to be more than the standard error of measurement of your exercises. Unless of course that extra baby is 50lbs0 -

How much do the two babies weigh? Are they muscle-bound babies or fat babies? Are you pushing and/or pulling the same stroller with one child? Where is the other child while you are doing this? Is either child named TOM?0

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. All kinds of people respond to questions. Take what you need and leave the rest alone. There is a lot of wisdom on MFP ... albeit you have to sift through things sometimes to find it.0 -

You have some good answers here already. Your original question didn't have much info to go on, but all things being equal, you should already know that pushing 20 pounds requires more effort (and burns more calories) than pushing 10 pounds.
The good info, IMO, is what Jeff posted - which is that you are probably talking about relatively little difference in calories burned with one child vs. two children in a stroller. Technically, you will burn more calories with more weight being pushed. But it's probably not a siginificant amount more.
I recommend you do whatever feels better for you, and whatever will make you do it more.0 -
It probably would burn more calories, but the difference is probably not enough to be worth figuring out.
If you're truly interested to know I would suggest purchasing a heart rate monitor (one with a chest strap). Otherwise I would log the exercise as it is in the database and be happy you have a few extra calories that you burned as a cusion.

Well the problems is, without more information, we kind of had to assume that all things are equal and that the only change you're making is that you're adding additional weight to an activity.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't understand why the question was asked. It would be kind of like asking "Will I burn more calories on the treadmill if I strap a 20lb weight to my back?"
Well, yes. Yes you would. It may or may not be a significant amount of calories depending on a few things.0 -
thanks mike but for reals lol i am never posting in here again i will just google next time0

Yeah, you'll show 'em then! Seriously, YOU are the reason you are here. Your choice though. Suck it up with the hurt feelings thing and continue to learn/move closer to your goal or........
As was said earlier, there is a lot of wisdom on here. There are a lot of people who have already done what you aspire to do and are willing to help you learn/succeed. However, it is ultimately your decision to use that knowledge or not. Good luck either way.0
