b12 shots opinions?

I have never heard of B12 shots before today and I was wondering what people knew/ thought about them? Just curious...

I've never taken the shots but my doctor used to have me on a high dose vitamin regimen. It was a few years ago, but I seem to remember her instructing me to take them with some other vitamin, maybe magnesium but I really don't remember, as that helped with proper absorption or whatever.

I have a friend who had to take the shots for a few months. She was very deficient, so the doctor administered the shots until her levels were such that she could switch to a pill instead.

I'm on B12 in pill form due to a deficiency (though levels are almost normal now).
