I AM A RUNNER!!!!! I did it! Nervous and excited all day and I couldn't wait to get out there. The amazing part was that it really wasn't bad! I kept it nice and steady and kept reminding myself to relax and really only actually felt like I was struggling at the end of my hill and then again somewhere around 16 minutes, but then it was fine again!
Fit - I'm so glad your research paid off! If you can do Day 2 you can do Day 3!
Russell - I didn't see your post on here, but I know you breezed through it! Congratulations!
I'm so excited for all of us! We're doing it!
  • Cool and overcast looking morning today but overall not too bad. Rain is gone.
My fleece pullover, warm running pants, running shoes, ear covers, and gloves and we were off to do the stretching and warm-up.
We did a 10 min run to start out with. Felt pretty good.
Since we got rain yesterday, there was some water running over the low-water -crossing that we had to leap across.
My daughter complained a little that her ankle hurt after the leap.
Then we briskly walked the hills until we were back out on the level again.
Took off again and I made it 18mins. YAY YAY YIPPEEE! My longest time yet!
My daughter only made it another 10 b/c her ankle was hurting so she kept up with me by briskly walking ( lower impact that way ).
All in all though I am pleased with our progress. Thinking back to last week, we have come a long way.

So proud of you all and happy we are doing this together!!

    Keep pushing forward.

    Yee Haw! Congratulations! Fantastic!!!!
  • Can I get a WOOT WOOT!!! I did it! I completed day 3 of week 5! It was not too bad at all! The weather today is chilly but sunny. Perfect weather for running. I just ran around the neighborhood and amazed myself that I was able to run the route I usually walk my dogs on. Just last week I was hoping I would make it around the block and today I made it around several of them! This is awesome, I am on cloud 9 right now!!! =0) The only time I had a hard time was in the last 2 minutes but for some reason I find myself speeding up the last minute... I think my body thinks that if I run faster the minute will end faster. LOL!!! Other than that it was not bad, challenging, yes, but not killer! Good luck to y'all that are doing it in the next day or two!!!!
  • Did anyone actually measure the distance that they ran in their 20 minutes? I just mapped mine and it was 1.3 miles! HA HA HA!!! I have officially ran my first mile!!! I doubt at the end of this program I'll be close to running a 5K, but once I'm able to run for 30 minutes straight I'll work on improving my speed.

My whole route is 3.7 miles. My 20 min part works out to be about 1.3-5 of those.
    YAY ME!
YAY YOU for doing your 1.3 miles!
My daughter & I did our first 5K in Sept. but we only walked it.
It was a great experience and next Sept. we want to be able to run / walk it.
I don't care so much about speed - just doing it.

Hooray for ProudMom and Beagles!!!! You did great! Doesn't it feel wonderful? I'm so proud of all of us. I was half tempted to do it again today, but then sanity returned. Lol! Beagles, I Iaughed when I saw your comment about running faster at the end so that your 5 minutes would be over sooner. I had that same conversation with myself toward the end. The other part of my run that I thought was interesting was the various aches and pains (extremely minor) that popped up at the beginning. I kept thinking, Oh no, I won't be able to finish. And by beginning, I mean the warm up walk! Once the run started it was all good. That 25 minutes next week is looking like it's ours!
  • Everyone, I'd like to also point out that we are more than half way done with our program! Very nice!!!

Week 5 Day 3 complete! Wasn't looking forward to doing it and was trying to make excuses-which is why I am where I am. So, I made my son ride his bike with me for company. The first 10 minutes flew by with no issue. Then my head wanted to shut down. I was at the turn around point where I usually stop running and walk during the segments and my head thought I should stop. So, I made mini goals: run to ___ and see how you feel. Each time I felt better and made another mini goal. When I looked at my watch, I had only 34 seconds to go! Those mini goals really helped. On the bright side, my body never waived! I felt great when I was done.
