Hi Ladies - Just an odd question. During that "time" of the month, what is your usual weight flux? I find the week before my friend arrives, I lose the most only to gain it all back the day before it gets here. Then during that week, it stays steady again until the end where I lose half of what I gained back.

Anyone else experience this? And if so, any tricks to keep the weight off other than TONS of water?

Replies

  • search posts on the forum, they have lots of ideas about how to keep the water weight off or down. LOTS of Water is always number one.

I don't even weigh in while on my period. It's actually rather nice to ignore the scale for a week.

Remember this is not "real" weight. (Meaning, it's not fat...) I usually refrain from weighing myself during that time.

Same. I don't even bother--its not accurate and there is no sense getting discouraged when its not in my control anyway.
  • I also avoid the scales from 3 days before and until 3 days after. I think in my case the fluctuation is about 1lb.

I am facing my first period since I started MFP. I'm not impressed with how crappy I feel. Bloated, etc. I am just going to try to remember tomorrow at my weigh in that any gain I might see is not real, and next week I will hopefully see a nice big drop to offset it.

But yeah, it sucks. Water, water, water. And avoid the salt. That's what I'm reading.

Put the scale away that week. I always know a couple days before I'm going to start because I can't stay out of the kitchen. I go get my scale and hide it right away! I like weighing every couple of weeks anyway because I ususally see a loss and that motivates me.
