Hello!
I am Garnet6. I have type 2 diabetes and want to loose some more weight. Diabetes runs strong on my mother's side with some relatives having died from its complications. I was also in Vietnam 1968 - 1969, and heavily exposed to Agent Orange. I was at a high weight plateau for a while brought on by the Blood Pressure medication Amlodipine. This drug causes water to be retained in my legs. I finally got my weight down from 208 to 193 pounds. It is hard work. I feel that I have two factors going against me - my mother's side health history and Agent Orange. I would like to get down to about 179 - 169 pounds. I am fairly active. I work out at the gym at least 3 times a week. During the summer I go mineral collecting in the field. Thank you for reading this!!

Hi there, I've been an insulin dependent diabetic since I was 10 years old (22 years ago). Being diabetic definitely makes it far more difficult to lose weight, but with some support and hard work, I believe we can do it. Glad you're here with us!0

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with type 11 diabetes. I was always a bit of a fatalist when it came to getting this disease, as it runs in the family, and I had gestational diabetes when pregnant with my son, 21 years ago. So, I just always said, oh it is just a matter of time, not really realizing, that it was just a matter of time, and didn't take the many warnings to change somethings prior to it coming my way. Well, here I am, and also after this being diagnosed, the doc also told me my cholesterol is too high and added a med to that to my regime!! I have always been the type of person that just seen this as nothing serious, and i can change it, if I WANT to!! Well, now here I am, and at a loss as to what to do, only knowing that I NEED to lose weight and get on track and treat this as the serious disease that I know it can be, if left out of control. As I worked in the healthcare field for years, and seen the many complications of diabetes and heart disease. So, if anyone knows of any good diet plans for diabetics, and high cholesterol? I fear, that low carb is too high fat, and so on and so forth, so any advice is welcome0
