Cardio Kickboxing

Hello everyone! My partner and I just started this weight loss journey (again) and today we went to the YMCA and did a cardio kickboxing group class. OMG did it work me out!!! I am sore in places I didnt even know had muscles. Anywho... I wore my heart rate monitor, but mine is dumb, and doesn't tell me the calories burned. So I know my average heart rate was 156, and the class was 50 mins long. When I look on the MFP database it says for 50 mins of Kickboxing it burns 1101 calories!! I do weigh 285... so I am not small by any means.. but does that sound right?? The teacher of the class said that we probably burned about 500. I don't want to over calculate and then eat way over. Anyone have any ideas as to how many calories I burned in that class? Thanks so much!!

  • I always find that MFP overcalculates calories by WAY too much, I would say your instructor was right about 500-600 sounds accurate. I just completed a 60 minute run with an average heart rate of 160 and burnt 640 calories if that gives you any indication :)
