My neighbour who is in her 50's always refers me and my husband as "the kids"... it doesn't really bug me overall, it just makes me feel like she thinks we're children... we're married, own a house, have a business, etc, not really kids. LOL
Ever since I was a child, my father has called EVERYONE a kid. One time, he said something about that kid driving a car. I said, "Dad, that guy's at least seventy." Dad said, "He ain't dead, he's a kid."
hahaha everyones young at heart i guess0 -
yes people do judge me based on my age. just because im 22 doesnt mean that im stupid or immature(we all have our moments) it doesnt mean i dont have feelings and ppl can treat me like a child just because im younger. psh ive probably been through more than most ppl ever will. . . ppl need to learn to not judge ppl by theiir age. . . its just a number0

I'e been a full time mother since I was 16 . I am the most responsible 22 year old I know, I've always thought of my kids first in everything I do, even when I was a teen just wanting to go out and be a teen, I stayed home and took care of my responsibilities. Some people have the luxury of being a dumb@ss for a while , so it gives older people th impression that everyone young is also dumb and irresponsible. I get it all the time, I think even more so when I tell people I had my first child so young, but I just let them have their opinions bc it doesn't change who I know I am.0

I dealt with it a lot in the workplace right after graduating from college. My boss had kids my age, and everyone in my department at work was 30 or younger, single, and childless, so he treated us differently than he treated his employees who were older, married, had kids, etc. It bothered me because we were all well-educated and hard-working, so we felt we deserved more respect than we got.
I still get it to some degree now, only because I am the youngest person in the office by about 20 years. I outrank all but 3 other employees, so I don't have to work as hard anymore to get respect, but a lot of the women see me as "a kid" in other ways. For instance, they are always trying to fix me up with a son, a grandson, a guy who goes to their church, or whatever.
I agree with some of the others who said that how you act is, for the most part, how you will be treated. I've had co-workers old enough to be my parents tell me that they frequently forgot I was the same age as their kids, and in the workplace, that's a compliment to me.0
