Activity Level?

Hey everyone - I know this gets asked a lot, but I could use some help.
I'm a college student and walk an average of 2 miles a day to get to and from my classes - which I do not count as exercise. Other than that I am sitting and doing homework most of the time. I don't include going to gym as part of my base-level activity because I DO log it as exercise.
Would you say I am sedentary or lightly active?

I'd probably go with sedentary because if you've been walking for a while, chances are your burn level is minimal.
I'm curious as to what others will recommend for you though.0 -
I'd say sedentary but I would count those miles that you walk to and from class0

I would put lightly active, especially considering that you aren't going to track certain forms of exercise.0

I'd say sedentary too. But I'd add it to my daily exercise diary and I'd add the gym work too. But I wouldn't eat the calories from the walk.0

Thank you all for your thoughts so far!0

I would say sedentary since you're guessing 2 miles a day, 5 days a week. It's like me not adding light cleaning to my "cardio" because I do that every single freakin day! Lol!0

I'm going to disagree with the majority and say that if you are walking 2 miles a day, you aren't sedentary. I don't believe that your body stops burning calories because you are "used to" a particular activity, it still requires energy.
I suggest try lightly active and see how this works out for you. We are all different anyway, so you can only try it and see how it suits your body.0 -
People, walking 2 miles a day is not sedentary.
sedentary is a person who sits ALL DAY EVERY DAY, and does no exercise.
Just bc she does it every day, does not diminish its role in her day.
If she chose sedentary, then she would need to log the walks as exercise. She said she's not logging them, therefore, they should be included as lightly active.0 -

Burn level remains the same regardless of the time you've been doing an activity. The burn level only decreases when your body size decreases. It just "feels" easier after a while. Perceived exertion is NOT actual exertion.
