No Nonsense November

Hey guys!
So October was a bit of a disaster for me, I fell off the wagon a couple of times. So, I've decided to kick my own butt and write out a plan to stick to for November.
Here it is:
No Meat
No Alcohol
No Junk Food - takeaways, chocolate, sweets, crisps, chips etc
3 meals and 2 snacks a day.
2L of water a day
workout 6 times a week
No Whites - wholemeal/wheat versions of bread/pasta/Rice
No Sodas - diet coke, fizzy drinks etc
I know people can live quite happily doing the above anyway but to me this is torture. :blushing:
But I have to do it. It's 30 days not the rest of my life and who knows I may stick to some of it afterwards. I do the 2L a day for a few days then I just stop.
I don't eat that much meat anyway and I'm lacking protein so I figured get rid of meat all together and go for high protein substitutes. I'm going to miss not having the option to go for a steak!
Diet cokes a downfall of mine, even though my parents started buying caffeine free, I'm still addicted.
My parents buy the food in so it's hard but I've told them about this and they seem to know how determined I am, so we'll see how long their support lasts.
Novembers a pretty quiet social life month, I didn't drink for 3 years so I don't think alcohol with be a massive issue, just watching the footy down the pub will hurt! :drinker:
I just thought I'd share and if anyone wants to tweak it or do this with me, or just would like to kick my butt! feel free to join in.

Why no meat? Just wondering :]0

I think if you pushed yourself to do this, you'd end up binging. Also, no takeaways ect, wouldn't you miss out on social events. By cutting out certain food your body will nag you.
(This is from personal experience).0 -
not one to discourage but your making a lot of sacrifices. my experiences is with to many changes I am more likely to fail. Good luck.0

100% agree here. Going so hard sets yourself up for trouble i think
Great goals! But don't beat yourself up if you slip :flowerforyou:0 -

I also agree that you're being extremely strict, which in turn typically leads to binging and 'falling off the wagon'.
Do you plan on sticking to this plan for the rest of your life? If not, I would just focus on eating healthy regularly and exercising regularly as well. That is how to lose sustainable weght loss. Goals are a great thing to have but too many restriction goals will not really help you progress for long.
I'd try to choose one or two of those things to stick with (I.E. no alcohol or no take out). Good luck.
BTW: I think I follow you on tumblr lol0 -
Enjoy the headaches and withdrawls from your normal eating... ughhh, exclusion diets that are extreme like this set you up for some violent symptoms sometimes.0

You fell off the wagon, so you make it even harder to stay on it this time?
There's a reason we say everything, but in moderation. It makes staying ON much easier and more likely!0 -
If you really want to cut all of that out of your diet I suggest gradual. Week 1, no alcohol... Week 2, no sodas..... week 3 no red meat
Week 4 no pork etc. The ideas of 3 meals and 2 snacks are sound as is lots of water no matter what you do. GL but I think your drastic change doesn't work for most people.0 -
You'd be better off figuring out a way to eat that is something you can do for the rest of your life, so that there is no "beginning" or "end," it's just healthy living. Way easier said than done and it probably will take a long time - it took me many many years and I'm still not spot on with it yet - but it's so worth it.
If you need a kick start, this is fine but I would think about what you can do instead of all of this restriction that will get you where you want to be happily and healthily, and something that is actually liveable. You can't undo years of behaviors in a day or even a week. It takes time. Be patient with yourself. Come up with a plan of action beyond what you cannot eat that will help you to change your behavior.
This, in my opinion, would be a far better use of your time and would make you far happier. Good luck.0 -
I think some of you are missing the point a little bit - I took this as being more of a kick start rather than a permanent plan.
If the plan fails for November, tweak it and come up with a new plan. At least you're setting goals and trying. I'm in for a no nonsense November. My plan isn't quite so strict, but it's MY plan.
1. follow my workout routine - no excuses
2. drink a minimum of 64 oz water/day
3. stay within my calorie goals 5/7 days per week
4. go from 221.5 lbs to 210 by December 1
My workouts:
Monday - rest
Tuesday - training run and Zumba
Wednesday - weight training and spin class
Thursday - training run and Zumba
Friday - weight training and spin class
Saturday - spin class and Zumba
Sunday - long run
Best of luck to you!0 -
Hey guys!
Appreciate all the tips and hints, I suppose it is a little extreme, but for 30 days, if i can't do it, I can't do it, But I wanted to challenge myself. I do all these things, but for a short period of time. I'm stuck after losing 41lbs. I need a kick.0 -
I think you do follow me on Tumblr! lol same name different place0

I don't know, I've always considered going vegetarian, I wanted to see if I could do it and I was just curious to see how swapping meat for alternatives would effect my weightloss0 -

Thought I'd do an update for the interested.
Yup there have been a couple of days that I haven't done everything on the list and I got a shoulder/neck injury which meant two rest days instead of one last week. 99% it has been stuck to it and I've lost 11lbs in two weeks.
I am only doing this for November, I'm going ease myself back into a less restricted program at the end, but to shift a few lbs before Christmas I think it's going well.0
