Okay this question is mainly for all the Weight Watchers folk on here but anyone can feel free to answer as it pertains to all.

On the days that you weigh in do you eat or not, and if not Why? Also, What time do you weigh in? My reason for this question is because when I used to weigh in with Weight Watchers I wouldn't eat that morning. I used to go to the earliest meetings due to this. Now I am weighing in at the doctors office, I usually get appointments in the afternoon (not by choice) but I try not to eat until after then. Is this a bad idea or better yet should I eat. The last time I weighed in, in the afternoon I was 2 lbs up..I was upset. I due to weigh in today and of course it is in the afternoon and I dont want to eat prior to that. I will however drink a protein shake and some water. bad or good idea? Help!

  • If you aren't weighing until afternoon, I would definitely eat more than a protein shake. Your body needs the fuel throughout the day to keep your energy up. Yes, you are trying to lose weight, but remember it is also just a number on the scale. Clothes fitting better, your energy level increased, inches lost are more important. Good luck with your continued weightloss!

I have two thoughts on this, you can sort them as you please:

    1) Consistency is very important in weighing procedure. For example, always weighing yourself in the morning after you've used the restroom, will tend to provide better consistency and a more accurate measure of bodyweight changes that are actually due to weight loss. You'll still have water weight fluctuations of course, but it won't fluctuate nearly as much as having an inconsistant weigh-in procedure.

    But

    2) If you're avoiding food because you want to see a smaller number on the scale, do you think you're sort of fooling yourself here? The fact that you eat beforehand will have (for all practical purposes) zero effect on actual fat loss. Not eating is only going to give you less food content inside your body which will show a slightly lower scale weight.

You both gave good advice and are both right and I took heed, as a matter of fact I ate something before I saw this post.
    Thank you!
