When I look up calories and fat on this website of Maverick Ground Round beef and Ground Turkey the calories , fat didn't seem much different. I am wondering if the Maverick I looked at was really the Ground Round Maverick. I though 4 ounces was 140 calories. The one I saw said 170 calories. So, the question is use Ground Turkey, Ground Turkey Breast, or Maverick Lean Ground Beef for the healthiest chili while still use a meat.

  • For chili, spend the extra 10 or cals per serving and have it taste like it should. Go with the bee.
  • Just like beef, ground turkey comes in different fat percentages, so you might have to shop around until you find the leanest possible ground turkey.

I make mine with half ground turkey breast and half extra lean (Laura's) ground beef. Great taste low fat and calories.

Ground Turkey Breast, skinless would have the least amount of calories and fat.

We raise our own beef and it is all natural...I was checking the differences with ground turkey to ground beef and really didn't see the difference as long as the ground beef is extra lean anyway, which ours is.

I grind my own meat so I know exactly what I'm putting in.

It all depends on the percentages..Groud Turkey can have more calories per serving if it isnt very lean. I only buy 93/7 I like leaner, but hard to find around here. We buy a cow from a local farmer, and that ground beef is about 95/5 lean.
