Hit your first plateau?

I'm about 40 days in (39, I think) and I think I've finally hit one. I've weighed the same for a little over a week after steadily dropping at the very least a lb a week.

How long did it take you to hit your (first) plateau?

Started in January, and it my first plateau last month. But my goal was really modest (5 lbs a month). Last month was the the first time I didn't hit it. I lost last week, then didn't lose this week, so I dont' know if I am fully out of it or not.

I don't know if it really is a plateau or not haha After steadily losing and not seeing a budge this week (well, it budged one day and since then I went back up to what I was) I'm very frustrated. ha
  • I hit them regularly (age 55 here). Some weeks I lose a pound or more some a fraction of a pound and some nothing at all. I am here for the long haul and see this as a life time change. When the scale doesn't move for me after a week I keep up what I am doing, drink some extra water and try to look at where I started and how far I have come and how much better I feel.

Each plateau does pass. It is worth the wait.

you did not hit a plateau. you're just 40 days in and your body is adjusting. time to switch things up. go for longer, or a higher intensity.

I hit one about every 10lb, which frustratingly coincides with breaking the next 10lb mark on the scale. I stalled at 152 gaining/losing the same 2lb for almost a month, then made quick progress until I reached 142 where I have waivered again for five weeks now. But last week I broke through to 138 and today am 140, which was my goal for tomorrow (yay!) and I think the losses are starting again. If the cycle goes like last time I'll lose a 3-4lb over the next two weeks, then it'll slow and I'll stall around 133 or so.
I think my body has been overweight so long it takes it time to adjust to a new set-point and is stubborn about shedding water weight.
