Hiit on elliptical

I have a question about logging HIIT on my elliptical. The database logs elliptical by minutes but 30 minutes of moderate is not the same calorie burn as 30 minutes of HIIT. Is there aplace to find how much you are burning doing HIIT on the elliptical. I would love to hear how others are logging it.

    Using your own heart rate monitor is the only way to figure this out.

    Excuse my ignorance but what is Hiit ? I use an elliptical / cross trainer most days in the gym, so just being nosey LOL

    I do Hiit on the ellitpical and rely only on my own hrm. In fact, that's how I record all of my cardio.

    If HIIT is done correctly, then it shouldn't be any more than a half hour at most. High intensity means you're going to be GASPING for air with a short recovery period. You can only do that so many times before gassing out.

    your confusing me I said I do 30 minutes of HIIT....I run crosss country and on the weekends hike for 2-3 hours so I can handle 30 minutes of HIIT

    Up the intensity! If you aren't dead you aren't getting the full benefits ;) If you can't go faster, try upping the resistance quite a bit. Or shorten the rest and lengthen the high intensity part... or all of the above! :happy:

    Do you burn more calories with HIIT than with steady state cardio? I know it is supposed to be better for fat burning, but is it also better for burning calories?
