God it is so frustrating when I step on the scale and see that it has gone up... Again. I'm back to the weight I was at the end of the summer. Over a month of working out and eating alright down and I'm back up to the weight I started at on here. Seriously?
It's so tempting just to quit. I'd keep exercising for sure because it makes me feel good but just stop with the calorie counting and the weigh ins. Every week that I see it has gone up or at least stay the same kills me. I realize a good part of it is my own fault. I do have cheat days on the weekend and of course last night I felt pretty good about my calories, close my journal and half an hour later my boyfriend comes home from study group with a pizza and wings. So three wings and two pieces of pizza later I'm stuffed and miserable.
What I don't understand is that if I am burning at least twice as many calories as I need to a week to lose 1 lb a week and I'm under my calories (Like around 1200 max) every day except for the one cheat day that I have during the weekend how am I not losing any weight? If my cheat day only goes over by 500 calories max, one day, and I've burned 1200 calories more than I need to a week to lose 1 pound... How am I gaining?
I need some motivation. I can keep myself at 140 ish with only minor calorie watching and minimal to no exercise. If I'm just going to continue staying at 140 I'd rather not bother with calorie counting and just eat however I want.
I'm so close to quitting right now. Today was my first mini goal end date. I was hoping to be around 135. I'm right back where I started at 140 and so completely frustrated I want to cry.
Help me, MFP friends I need your help. I don't know if I can keep doing this without seeing any changes on the scale...

Are you totally honest with yourself? Maybe it's water retention. Do you drink enough water throughout the day? Our bodies tend to retain water.
Do you measure yourself also? Measurements are also v important in weight loss because they also encourage you to keep on going.0 -
Hi there.
I feel the same way and one of the things that keeps me going is that I am "trying" (that's the key word) not to focus on the number and more on how my clothes fit and how I feel. But that is so much easier said than done. I workout, I count my calories, I have one cheat day a week and I lose one week, gain the next week and another week I stay the same. It is frustrating, so frustrating. I do notice if I cut out more carbs and sodium that tends to help me more.
Just want you to know that you are not alone and you can do this!! Don't give up!
Feel free to add me if you would like and we can help motivate each other along the way.0 -
Yes dear it prolly is alot of water. You need to be measuring and looking for nsv to keep pushing on weight loss journey.
Feel free to friend me and do keep counting... You are only looking at losing 20lbs maybe you should be shooting for half a pound a week and increase calories by that much.. It can work
Keep trying.. You are doing well no matter what the scale says. I growled at mine this morning lol but know it's all water weight.

I do measure myself every two weeks and there has been a decrease there but when I don't see any kind of change on the scale it makes me wonder if I'm doing my measurements wrong, maybe cheating a little bit on them. I don't know0

I can tell you that I married my husband weighing 98 pounds....after the birth of our 4 daughters over a 9.5 year period I put on alot of weight! I managed to take the weight off after the 1st 2, but then it started creeping up...at least 3-4 lbs per year on the average. Doesn't sound like much...but figure your own weight adding 3-4 pounds per year til your 54 yrs old. For me it was over 32 years. Yep, it adds up. And for those that you hear say it's harder to lose weight after you're 30, they aren't kidding! So, drop the weight now if you can, and keep it off. It's truely much easier now to keep in shape! I watch everything I eat, keep track of it right away, slurge on margerita Friday nights, and work like mad all week to get that back off but I do it. I have to because I am too fat! I'm a whole new me plus from the girl I was 37 years ago. It's almost like I ate the original me...cuz I know she's inside there somewhere.
So if you can, keep up the exercise and ask your bf to not bring the yummies home to you. Tell him you want to be smokin hot looking for him and tell him you don't want all these "little" pounds to build up on you over the years. Let him know how serious you are.
Good luck. And keep the faith....you can do this!!0
