MFP Family...are any of you doin or have done the C25K program? If so do you think it is wise for me to undertake? I have long standing hip and back problems. Yes I know I'm only 23 but been suffering for over ten years.

Many people have done C25K, if you do a search on here.

As to whether you should do it, perhaps ask your physician?

I love running, but it can be hard on your body, so you should absolutely consult your physician first!

That's something I would go to your doctor about. I you can't really get accurate advise here for something like that. It's safest to talk to your doctor and ask what you could do and/or how to build up to it. I'm doing the C25k and am just starting week 9. If you do not want to talk to your doctor I would do a treadmill for the program. It will be easier on you. But again, doctor is the best person to talk to. Especially if it's been for over 10 years.

I run, but I didn't start until I could walk a full hour without "exceptional" soreness. And when I started running, I did each week twice of my training program before moving on to the next week. I should also mention that when I did the run portion, it was VERY slow...barely faster than my walk. You should talk to your doc, but if you go slow and take your time, and listen to your body, you should have success.

If you have a known medical condition you should talk to your doctor before beginning any exercise program. I know that sounds cliche, but there is a reason that advice is given so often. It's good advice.
