How often to reassess goals?

When I began, on 12/27, I put in my information and got a 1530 calories a day recommendation to lose 2 lb/week. I have been doing well, and in the first month, dropped off 16 lbs (YAY goodbye 16 lbs). But in the last week and a half, I have not seen any loss at all. I know it comes off faster in the very beginning, but I am still in the obese category, and still should be losing. So I went to look at my goals and when I hit the calculate button, it suddenly says I should be having 1380 calories a day. So how often should I be recalculating the goals and getting a new calorie number? I understand you get less calories as you lose more weight. So how do I know when it is time to recalculate and scale back the calories?

Please help. It is very frustrating to plateau for a week and a half before I figure out that I should tweak things. So should I recalculate every week? Every time I lose any weight? HELLLP!!

You should re-assess as often as you feel it is necessary. Make sure you are "checking in" whenever you lose weight as well. If you go along for a few weeks and you feel you are plateauing... that is your body saying "okay something needs to be different" Congrats on the 16lbs down... hang in there... its a long process!

    Hi Lucky!

Awesome that you lost 16 pounds in one month! I'm hoping that you know that that will not be the norm, and that you will have plateaus.

Keep going. Update your goals every time you lose weight. It only takes a few seconds and is well worth it.

Time to refresh yourself! Reading assignment

Thanks Riverside- that was exactly what I needed to read. Banks' posts are so succinct and so correct.

I am glad I reassessed, and now I will do it again whenevr I lose lbs. Which I will continue to do, even if it feels slow.

I never want to see those 16 lbs again. So I will choose not to.

Thanks!!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
