lol!.. not sure what country you in... but if you have outdoor markets that sell fruit and veg they are often cheaper than supermarkets.. not sure where you'd get them cheaper if you are in US?... maybe discount freezer stores.. you can buy bigger packs cheaper and they will keep as they are frozen... not sure about meat and stuff as they tend to add salt and preservatives etc to frozen ones.

Do they do 'farm shops' in US? or farmers markets? where could buy fresh and then freeze the meat/fish in your freezer?

I pack my freezer with chicken and ground turkey, Usually fairly inexpensive. I keep a close eye on the ad's for my local grocers and take advantage of meat sales. For veggies your local farmers market is your best bet!

Bananas, stews made from dried beans and cheap cuts of meat (or no meat), cabbage, sweet potatoes, boneless skinless chicken thighs, oatmeal from scratch, eggs. Cooking large quantities at home and freezing portions for lunches and dinners when you don't want to cook.

Areed ^ Never EVER go to the store without a list. I sit down, plan all of my meals out for 2wks, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner then write a list. Also coupon if you can, and scan through your ads to see whats on sale at what stores if it's worth it drive to other stores. For instance I like to go to Winco a low cost grocer for my misc. stuff, another store for meats and our Farmers Market for veggies.
