What is a cordless elliptical?

So, I am in the market for a new elliptical, but I've come across a question during my research. some of the ellipticals are said to be cordless...how does this work? Does it work by simply you moving your body, moves the machine? Is it battery powered (I assume no)?

And, for all you who own ellipticals, which do you like best? Whats the difference in work out?

Welcome!

My elliptical doesn't have a cord. It runs off batteries. I use my elliptical every day and the batteries last me about 3-4 months

I run daily and use my elliptical, I would buy a nice elliptical, because you will use it often. We are worth it!! I bought mine from SEARS. good luck

That is probably just referring to whether or not you have to plug it in for the display screen to work. They are self powered. My display runs off batteries.

What I always recommend is buying a good, solid used elliptical (Craigslist, paper classifieds, etc) and if you find yourself really using it, sell it and spend more money on a better one. I got lucky and found mine on Craigslist for $150. The original price was $2500. I didn't use it at all for the first 6 months hardly then when I started trying to lose weight I've used it almost every day. I am happy with it for the most part so I'm just going to use it till it it breaks down! I would much rather keep the one I have than buy a wobbly cheap one from Walmart. Heavy and solid is the way to go.
