On average I drink 10 cups of water everyday. I swear I have to pee every 10 minutes. Is this normal?

I'm the same way... I go at least 20 times a day! At least I know I'm hydrated0

I drink a ton of water and I pee all.day.long...or so it seems.0

I try to get 6 to 8 glasses a day and I have to pee every 20 minutes. Hang in there it will subside after a long while.0

Same problem. Carpet has a wear pattern in it from me.
I actually asked my Dr. about it, he said caffeine will increase the number of trips so to speak.0 -
Yup, me too! It's normal.0

this happens to me all the time! The problem is I work in a hospital and can't always get a bathroom break 2ce a shift let alone 10 times! I found that I drink more water on days I don't work. but yes I think it is normal. makes sense what goes in must go out?!?0
-
Think of it this way, You're peeing out the calories! So, its a good thing! I'm with you. Going all the time but welcome it. The weight has to go out somewhere. :flowerforyou:0

If you feel that you need to pee a lot then its worth having a blood sugar test for diabetes, just in case. I admit that the fact that you are drinking a lot of water is a more obvious explanation but still worth checking.0

Of course it's normal...0

I found that when I first joined MFP. I didn't drink water much before, and so it was a big shocker to my system. But by a week or two into it, my body adjusted and the trips decreased.

Yep, it's gonna happen. It's getting better for me, but I still gotta go fairly often.0

i drink 20cups a day on the average day and have to go alot. if u drink higher amounts everyday for awhile, after a week or two you will no longer need to pee every 10 minutes. at one time i was literally going every 10minutes with drinking my 20cups, but now drinking the same amount i go maybe 10x a day (which is less than once a hour). you need to be sure to drink half of your body weight in ounces a day. the 8cup rule is for someone who is 130lbs.0

Ha ha! This is so true! Although it depends on how much you are sweating out as well. When I have a good workout day, I don't make nearly as many trips to the loo!

Right through me lol :blushing:0

It gets easier as you get used to drinking more water...I go at least 10 times a day too.0

Hey.. drinking that much H2O and spending that much time traveling to and being in the restroom... I'd say you should be dropping some lbs! unless your one of "THOSE" kind of folks that takes food into the bathroom...
I think most folks go through this when they increase their water intake.... should level off. If you are drinking because you feel REALLY thirsty... I agree with "richardholt2011" ... TALK to your DR. it could be a blood sugar issue.0 -
I hear ya! LOL
I have a 750mL water bottle on my desk at work and I refill it 3 times a day! The aircon probably plays a part in that too, but I find I'm always thirsty!
I drink a lot less when I'm not at work, but still manage to keep over 8 cups a day.
And yes, I'm back and forth to the bathroom at least once every hour! Definitely a good thing when you're sitting at a computer all day - perfect excuse for a break! :-D
But, just think of all the extra steps we're taking in our day and the extra calories that is burning off for us..... ;-)0 -

It is completely normal for someone that is drinking much more water than their body needs.0 -
If it gets better after drinking lots of water....I just want to know when? I have been doing this since Sept. 9th.. Shouldn't it be a little better by now?0

I just had my fasting blood sugar checked back in the beginning of October and it was 77 mg/dL. So, that's not it. I'm sure what you said that the fact I'm drinking a lot of water is a more obvious explanation. I just thought my body would have gotten used to the increase of water by now. I started increasing my water intake about 8 weeks ago. I'm just glad to know It's normal.0 -
Quite honestly this was happening to me. With my job I physically can NOT take a pee break every ten minutes, so I had to decrease my water intake.
However I have noticed that I can drink less water than we're supposed to force down our throats, pee less and still be hydrated.

Frankly, if you're drinking and it's going straight through you you really didn't need that glass of water.
Edited for a better chart of colours0 -

This is not necessarily true.0 -
I drink tons of water....and I pee all day long....It can get annoying because I always have to pee while I am in class.....But I am good with it. At least I know water is doing my body some good0

I feel the same way!0

All I drink is water and I drink a ton of it, yes I make frequent trips to the bathroom, but its worth it to me. I am not as hungry when I drink more water because before I wasn't drinking enough and was eating when I was really just thirsty, also when I started tracking everything I quit drinking pop completely cause I was a diet pepsi junky and I knew it wasn't helping anything so I drink water all day long. I have a 32 ounce cup that gets filled up at least 4 to 6 times a day. My bladder has adjusted and I don't go nearly as often as I did the first couple of weeks.0

Having been a longtime sufferer from kidney stones, I hydrate like crazy, all the time.
Yeah, you have to pee a lot. It's good for your kidneys and helps to flush excess sodium as well.0 -

How so? It may not be the only reason one might pee too often, but it certainly is normal for someone drinking more than they need.0 -

Well, when you word it like that......0 -
Yup....that's me. I find it very hard to drink a lot of water when I'm not home and I'm just out and about. Or driving somewhere with a distance that's longer than a half hour.0
