OMG!

I'm just watching the Food Hospital and it has a guy aged 44 who has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabeties...he weighs 24 stone and needs to loose 4 stone...fair enough. However, the guy on here who's the "doctor" has said that they are going to put him on an 800 calorie diet ...800 calories, seriously!? I just can't believe the advice i've just heard!! Fair enough he needs to loose weight quick but surely its best to do it healthy!?

I'm in shock...

Wow, I would die on 800 calories a day - really anything less than 1200 = not so healthy for you, particularly if you are a dude!

I think it's only unhealthy if it's not being monitored by a doctor... I bet they're taking his blood sugar and whatnot throughout to make sure he stays healthy. I guess the doctor COULD be a quack, but I would imagine for TV they could afford a good one. Still feel sorry for the guy who's going to try to live on 800 calories per day...but I guess he "lived it up" up until now which is how he got into the predicament of needing to go to such extremes.
