Help! I'm not losing weight yet I'm eating to my goals.

I am not losing weight as fast as I'd like to and I think it's to do with what I'm eating. I normally try to eat 1200 calories a day and go to the gym and burn 400 calories 3 times a week but I seem to be staying around the same weight. Should I eat more - what should I eat? Please help, I don't know what I'm doing wrong and it seems like all my hard work is going to waste!

You're losing just under 1kg a week, that's pretty good!! You don't want to loose weight too too fast, because it'll be harder to keep it off in the long run.
You may be eating too few calories, and your body is storing fat because it's in "starvation mode"0 -

What are you eating? I am finding that what I eat has a lot more to do with my weight loss and overall health than how much I eat. I try to stick to a cleaner way of eating, cutting back on processed foods. Also, yeah, if you are only eating 1200 calories and then none of your exercise calories, its likely that you are not eating enough. You have to fuel your body if you want it to work properly. Starving it and working it too hard can make you lose weight, but as soon as you start eating "normal" it generally starts creeping back up. I would say really watch WHAT you eat, and maybe eat a little more. It doesn't hurt to try, since you aren't losing right now anyway. I hope that helps!0

You may not be estimating the calories accurately - I found that some common dishes I ate were not accurately represented in the database, so I had to make my own customized entries.0

Your NET calories is far too low, it's okay once in a while but if done continually your body will go into starvation mode without you even meaning it too. Try to boost your intake with protein after your workout0

I assume it is going into starvation mode - it just seems crazy to eat more to lose more! What do people recommend to eat after a workout that's high in protein? I'm not eating processed or high in fat or calorie foods - mainly yogurts, veg, smoothies and soups. I don't want a very rapid weight loss, but it's hard when you're hardly seeing any results and my weight keeps fluctuating around the same value.0

I was told to add in intervals to my workouts and I have gotten over my first plateau (I know not for long though). I have started adding in spurts of faster running or faster work on the elliptical. So far so good. I haven't upped calories to compensate either...0

yep. interval training can help put things back in motion. I have ideas for interval training in my workout blog below.0 -
Try eating 1/2 your exercise calories back one day and then the next only eat 1200 or whatever MFP gives you as your calorie goal, then the next 1/2 your exercise cals and so on, plus take one day a week where you don't count. Its supposed to trick your body to stay out of starvation mode. Jillian Michaels has said that too. That has helped me! Good luck!0
