I just heard on my local FOX news that If you eat 1 snack size bag of M&M"S, A man has to walk a mile and a woman has to run a mile to burn it off! Just 1 little bag!!!!!!!!!:noway:
Think before you reach for that halloween candy. If you think you can have 1 piece a day, you better get a new pair of sneakers.

Yeah, if you eat that on top of your normal calorie intake. But if you plan it into your usual goal, it'll be fine. Sure, it's not exactly healthy, but as long as you plan around it, one bag of sweets isn't going to do anything too bad. It's better to eat bad things in moderation than to deprive yourself of the foods you love and end up binging like mad because you're craving those foods.0

I would much rather eat a meal then waste my calories on 10 M&M's.0 -
a man has to walk a mile and a woman has to run? I heard that a mile whether walked or run burns the same calories, just that running burns it in a shorter amount of time. I guess the woman is in a rush to get them calories burned! lol0

walking a mile and running a mile is going to burn pretty much the same calories either way. So they both could walk LOL :foxnews:0

Also a snack bag is what maybe 70 calories, if I walked a mile I would burn probably 3 times that..0

Yeah, I think I ate most of my calories in candy yesterday! But I stayed under my calories and worked out... and I had a 700 deficit, so I should be okay... maybe I won't see as big of a loss this week as it would've been if I would've eaten my calories in healthy stuff, but at least I'm not feeling deprived. LOL0 -
So what, there's 240 calories in a bag of M&M's? I wouldn't even burn that off half of that running a mile:/0

they have advertisments like that on the subway here in nyc. something like "you'd have to walk 4 miles to burn off the sugar calories from one regular soda."So what, there's 240 calories in a bag of M&M's? I wouldn't even burn that off half of that running a mile:/
you're not running fast enough.0 -
So what? Walking/running a mile is about 100 calories. And it's only an issue if you've gone over your daily calories rather than fitting your treats into your allotment. This is so misleading.0

I think you'll burn more calories walking a mile than gained from the fun size M&M bag. I hate how news reports try to use scaretactics to try and get people to exercise more and eat right. True it may work but the individual should know whether they should eat it or not.
I say, if you have the calories left over, eat a few M&Ms. It won't do much harm unless you make a habit out of it.0 -
you're not running fast enough.
....Well, I don't have an HRM or anything, but when you don't weigh that much you don't burn that much. *shrug*
Whatever though. I don't tend to eat junk food too often, but when I do, I either fit it into my calories or I just have it and try not to stress about it. Actually, usually the latter/0 -
You burn more calories running than walking:

Exactly!! We have more to do than take a leisurely walk!!0 -
I think the point is, are you really only going to eat 1 piece of all that candy you have left over from halloween?0
