Help me decide my next goal!

Yay me! I have successfully lost all my weight, AND now maintained for 6 weeks  Now its time to set my next goa, and of course you want to go that bit further, try that bit harder. I was thinking of trying to maintain for 8 weeks, so 2 months pretty much - which takes em to 2 Jan. The thing is that is *right* after the Christmas period and I am planning to indulge a bit, hopefully not *too* much but have a few days off exercise/ logging and eat foods I know I shouldn't!!
I don't want to set myself up for a fall, but at the same time do want to challenge myself. I did manage to maintain through my DS's birthday, my birthday AND FIL's birthday with a lot of food about so maybe I can do it, but then I idn't weigh in like the day after!!!
ARGH, what to do - ???

No different than what you have been doing, plan your meals ahead of the time... plan your exercise ahead of the time...0

I would just keep doing what you're doing. But if you need a new goal, I would focus on a fitness goal rather than a weight goal, since you're already doing awesome with your weight. Maybe take up the 100 pushup challenge, or the 200 squat challenge, or something like that?0

but would you set it for maintaining for 6 weeks or 8? Or maybe 10 to give me a couple of weeks to sort any accidental festive season gain??0

Nah, I'd stick with your Jan 2 goal. Because YOU know that any weight you gain through the holidays will probably be water weight, right? So as long as you're within 5 lbs of your current weight, you can call it good. But if you're worried about your motivation and your reaction if you see a higher number on the scale, yeah, go ahead and tack on an extra week.0

God point re: fitness challenges. I've done the 200 squat chalenge and am currently working through JM's 6 week 6 pack. I am planning to do a zumba challenge and JM's ripped, probably in that order as I find too much JM in a row a bit
I don't respond well to higher numbers on the scale :devil:0 -
Shoppie-You have all the tools you need to maintain through the holidays. You can enjoy the things you love just keep it in smaller portions and try to balance it out with healthier choices. Since you know you will be eating more perhaps work out an extra 10 min. of exercise each session or exercise an extra day. Having a non-scale goal is probably a good idea. Consider something like doing x amount of push ups, squats etc. or working on more muscle definition something to keep the motivation up.
Good Luck to you my friend!0 -
I would try and challenge myself in a different way. I wouldn't look at it as maintaining a weight. You know you can do that, now it's time for something new, fun, and different! I agree with the above respone of maybe doing the 100 pushups or something more fitness related. Maybe add another mile if you run or walk. Don't let yourself keep pushing back the maintaining date... Good job and good luck!0

To help with the weight maintance/gain, Try to plan active activities around the eating. So often we sit around at each others houses just eating and drinking during the holidays. My family started playing games, things that will make you get up and move. I live in Texas so last Thanksgiving we were outside and we had a big moonwalk/jump machine. Everybody got on it!
Since we talking about holidays: lol
Tips - 1. be the Host, when your the host you never eat as much, always seem too busy!
2. be on the Clean Up Crew, cleaning up after a party is always hard work!0 -
Never stop tracking. Take it from someone who knows. It's too easy to go back to old habits without even realizing it.
Been maintaining for 8 months and have had ups and downs. :drinker:0 -

I agree -- I'd stick with beating your fitness "limits" rather than a scale limit, too.
I've been stuck on my last 3 lbs. til my goal for a little while now, so I'm just gonna focus on getting back into my 1/2 marathon training, and go from there. :flowerforyou:0 -
Its a very good point re: just moving my maintenance goal back and back - 2 months, then 3 then 4 kind of so what really? I guess I only tend to think one goal at a time - habit from when the amount I had to lose seemed insurmountable!
I'd quite like to give 100 push-ups a proper go I think, I was doing them at the same time as the 200 squat chalenge and my daily workouts so not sure they got the focus I think they require for me to actually do it!0
