I have a charity dinner to attend tonight at a really nice hotel, I don't know what the dinner plate will be. HELP. What can I do to avert calorie laden foods tonight?

Just make good choices-- eat the salad but watch out for dressing, maybe have some grilled chicken... drink water... and keep carbs/desserts VERY minimal. You won't be able to know exactly what you're eating, but you can make educated guesses... you know? Nobody can force food down your throat. Set you mind to eat what is the most healthy, and avoid the rest!

And dance if there's any music/ dancing to be done. You'll burn calories and have a fun time. Good luck!

I go to these all the time and used to get really frustrated about it because everything is always so sauced up and they always cut into my exercise time so I didnt even get the benefit of extra calories. One thing I do is either eliminate the salad or eat it dry. The dressing takes up too many unnecessary calories that can be saved for the main course. I eat sparingly of the main course and vegetables, I skip the roll and either eat part of the dessert(depending on what it is) or avoid it. If there's wine, I may or may not drink it and same with the coffee (because I like the cream). Hope this helps.

I would call the hotel and ask for the catering manager. Explain to them that you have some dietary restrictions you'd like to adhere to and ask if they could help. Most places are cognizant these days of all the different dietary limitations people have and are more than happy to accommodate you. If they can't, you can at least learn what will be served and plan accordingly.

    Good luck!
  • I would say portion control would be the best way to go. Or you could consider it as a cheat/ refeed day( and just enjoy yourself) sometimes it's okay to have a day like that , I think your body needs it sometimes. Have fun!!!!
