If you have super oily skin...
have you ever found a foundation primer or ANY oil control product that worked for you??
I have tried all of the things below with NO luck:
Murad mattified
Smashbox Photo Finish (oil free)
Laura Mercier primer (oil free)
Prime Time
Ole Henriksen Vitamin Plus
Urban Decay Oil Slick
Dermadoctor Teaze Zone
Clinique Pore Perfector
As you can see, I've either bought Sephora out or tried every sample possible...I am so sick of feeling like an oil slick!!
TIA!

bare minerals all the way!!!0

Oops, forgot to mention I tried Bare Minerals too...it melted off my face in about 30 mins. It might have worked if I could ever find an oil control primer though.0
-
I use Clinique clarifying makeup. My face is still greasy, but some of it is unavoidable. I did use Pro Active for a while and liked it too.0

I've tried Bare Minerals too... didn't help anything except depleting my bank account...
I have noticed tho since started drinking loads of water, that my skin has cleared tremendously... I've had issues nonstop with my skin since I turned 14.0 -
Have you seen a dermatologist to see if a prescription can help? That would drive me insane! My skin is extremely temperamental, but not terribly oily.0
-
This might sound strange, but I rub a lemon on my face before I go to bed... it seems to help with the oilyness and prevents huge ol' pimples0

Crazy as it sounds, I started using Olay moisturizer and put silica powder on my face after I apply my make up and find this to be effective. The moisturizer actually keeps my face from over producing sebum. And the foundation I use is some cheap mineral makeup from ELF (I get in onine- $5.00). Works great for me. Plus I stopped eating fast food (except for french fries) and I find this has helped. I don't know how old you are so that could also be a part of it. I'm in my mid-thirties so my face is not as oily as it was when I was a teenager or in my teens.0

The only thing that has ever worked for me are oil clear sheets. They"re brilliant - a little pricey..but worth it. They don't remove makeup, but absorb all the oil. My roommate also has super oily skin. She uses anywhere from 3-7 a day (I only use one), but always looks great and can wear whatever makeup she wants.0

Try CoverFX0

I know this sounds weird, but my skin used to be super oily until I started using a moisturizer. I use oil of olay for oily skin. Then I use cover girl pressed powder for oily/combination skin. They're both great and relatively cheap!0

I use Prep + Prime from MAC...the one with the SPF 50 on it.0

I would say that you should consider yourself lucky in a way. Oily skin ages much later than any other types of skin.
I ahve oily skin down on my T zone. Not very nice really in the evening, after having all my make up run. I would say just add some powder on top when it starts to get greasy. Should help.0 -
By far the best. I have tried all of the ABOVE responses over 25 years ....
Purpose Soap --- No 2 http://www.purposeskincare.com/ 4.99
Clean and Clear No 1 hands down http://cleanandclear.com/product/moisturizers/dual-action-moisturizer 3.99 COMBO oil/dry skin - No Irritation. ONe Bottle last 6 months.
Best 3.99 I have ever spent. After 3 days of usage people were asking my wife and I what did we do too our skin.
For years I thought I had oily skin... When It was really DRY skin.... The Shiny Forehead look. SO I used drying agents which made it worst.... I tried at 12 am and by 7 am I noticed my face had an even tone.0 -
I started using Mary Kay TImewise for combo/oily skin. I use the whole system. I have noticed a HUGE decrease in oiliness.0

SO True.0 -
Thanks for the ideas, everyone! I am impressed...first time I ever posted anything here!
Will try out some of your ideas & see what happens. I am 42 and thought the oiliness would go away one of these days...haven't been to a dermatologist for it. Hoping some of your suggestions help.
Thanks again!0 -
I've had the same problem. It's calmed down some in the past few years, thankfully. I tried Retin-A some years ago and had success with it at the time. Side benefit is that it's good for wrinkles, too.0

I used to have a LOT of problems with my skin. I wash my face in the shower and use a little bit of shea butter when I'm all done. It has really helped my skin a lot.
Also, have you tried African Black Soap? Coastal Scents sells it - great stuff!0 -
So far Studio Gear Prime Objective has been the best. The one thing that has helped more than anything, and I've tried every prescription and OTC treatment known to man, is prescription DUAC. If I use it every night I actually get dry spots! I can put a rice-based powder foundation on in the morning and it's still there when I leave work. It's not quite as fresh but at least it hasn't melted completely off my face.
Also, for a good face wash, try castile soap. It comes in a bottle and you can get it at Target in the make-up area (other stores carry it but Target is the one that comes to mind). Get the perfume/dye free version. I use it once a week on my face/hair/body to get really super clean (make sure to moisturize afterwards). It gets all that excess oil off that makes your face feel grimy even after you've washed it.0 -
I have extremely oily skin, so I know where you are coming from. I dread the hot summer months b/c of breakouts. I dread working out and getting all "glisten-y" b/c I dread the breakouts. In mentioning this to my doctor, she thinks I may be scrubbing too hard, and therefore, making the problem worse, as my skin is trying to overcompensate for all that scrubbing.
So, here's my routine:
AM: fingertip wash with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Wash--feels clean w/out overdrying
PM: fingertip wash with Zum Tea Tree Oil Goat's Milk Soap. (can buy on-line. I get mine from an upscale grocery store), followed by Olay Regenerist Cleansing cloth to exfoliate.
Seems like a lot of work, but it cleans and exfoliates and mostly keeps me breakout free.
Good luck.0 -
As far as foundation goes, try Revlon Colorstay in Combo/Oily. That is the ONLY foundation that will last on my oily skin! Every other type melts off within 2 hours. Colorstay lasts all day at work.0

Do you wear make up regularly and if so, what do use to remove the make up?
I am in my 30's and have had oily/problem skin since my pre teens. I don't wear make up every day but when I do, I use olive oil as a remover. Someone on here posted it a while back and I thought, what the hay, it's cheap and already in my cupboard. I've been doing it for about a month and my skin is extremely smooth, hydrated, and not oily at all. The same poster also recommended a weekly scub of lemon juice and sugar. I haven't tried that yet.
The olive oil leaves your skin a little oily right after but about 30min after it soaks in. My dobi does like to try and like my face after I do it however. She's a gluten.
FYI, I live in extreme south texas on the Gulf Coast so it's still getting up to 90 degrees here and always humid. I agree with some of hte others that often oilyness is a sign of dry skin.0 -

This is true. I have crazy oily skin as well. And, it turns out, my skin has actually gotten worse since changing my eating habits. Who knew. The sheets do work and I through several per day.0 -
Physicians formula at drugstores....expensive, but helps skin.0

Estee Lauder double wear is AWESOME! That stuff does not move. A little pricey but totally worth it. You might also try Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin. 2 of my all times favorites! (And I've tried a lot)0

I have oily-sensitive skin (grrr!) can't use stuff for oily skins because its too irritating and the regular stuff isn't enough.
However, I have found the physicians formula mineral powder seems to help the best. My skins still gets shiny, but not the typical oil slick.
And the bright side, people with oily skin tend to have less wrinkles0
