I'm finishing off my current round of a P9X/TurboFire Hybrid in a couple weeks. I plan on taking Thanksgiving (and my birthday) week off and starting a round of P90X in December so I can be fully ready for P90X2. I'm also entering the newest BeachBody Challenge to get another free t-shirt. You can never have enough free stuff.

Does anyone want to join me? I've found posting to a forum helped a ton during my first round. I'd love to get a group together here to keep me on track. The holidays are coming and I'm counting on P90X to keep me in line. I have the wife's parents and grandparents coming down for Christmas, so my mad cooking skills will be on display. I need all the calorie burning I can get.

Who is with me? I figure three weeks is enough time to get a group of people together. It also gives enough time for rookies to get a program ordered and delivered.

You are very motivating, but I am not that far along in my working out. But good luck to you! I am sure you will do great. You have the right attitude.

Thanks for the compliment. If P90X is a bit intimidating, why not try something else? I've done Power 90, TurboFire and P90X. All work and cater to different fitness levels.

Honestly this terrifies me. I'm an exercise baby. Do you have to do anything specific to be in the beachbody challenge? I looked on the website, but it's kind of confusing

You just need to do one of the programs that they sell. You need to take before and progress pictures.
  • I actually just started another post on P90X before seeing yours ;) I'm very much a novice, never really liked the gym and not what I would call in shape. How realistic is it for a novice to start P90X and finish it.

Y'all are some warriors. I'm still struggling on Power 90.

I've never had the athletic build, but played plenty of sports on a recreational level. I would go to the gym and lift weights, but never saw a whole lot of gains. I tried and failed at P9X three separate occasions, with my longest run lasting 3 weeks. When I tried again in May, I joined a thread on the beachbody forums and that helped me tremendously. i had people to hold me accountable and check in on me when I didn't post.

P90X can be tough and frustrating, but if you are working with a group of people who are going through it as well, it becomes a little easier. Have you bought P90X yet? Have you looked at the DVD's to get an idea about them?

We actually started out on Power 90. I still hate the towel hops that made their way into P90X. The drawback with Power 90 for me was that it got repetitive quickly. I prefer a bit more variety to keep my sane.

I actually prefer routine. I'm already passed 45 days on Power 90 and have yet to advance to sculpt 3-4 and sweart 3-4, because i don't want to learn new moves. but i know i'm going to eventually need to progress as i get stronger and lose weight to challenge myself.

For those of you curious to what one round looks like, these were my results.

    SideRound1.jpg

Not ripped, not 5% body fat, just a good amount of weight loss and a big change in the body (and attitude).
  • Very impressive Smpreston!! Great job!

Thanks! You should give some thought to trying it. If you want something lighter to get you going, then Power 90 as mentioned earlier is worth a shot. All you need are exercise bands to get started.

Who else wants to give it a try? You don't even need to do P90X. TurboFire, Insanity, Power 90, etc will all work great. I love to see the variety.
  • hi smpreston, I'm looking to start p90x Monday if it's delivered in time... I'd love to join the group, can I be a few week ahead? I once worked out way too much and didn't eat enough... I felt like I was in a prison, I could tell you what I had eaten for the last two weeks and thought about fitness way too much.. My body got very lean, I was 8% body fat, CRAZY for a girl. that was ten years ago. I've had three children, kept my weight in check (currently I'm 5'4 and 119 lbs), however I've lost about 20 lbs of lean mass therefore my bf% is high. I am physically very weak. This is going to HURT!!! I would love the motivation and accountability...

I have gone through P90X a few times.

But just wanted to offer support and encouragement to all of you AND the OP.

Congratulations on what you have accomplished so far - and just know you CAN reach your goal. Just keep pushing play. :)

Its a great program, and I can confirm - every round, if you give it your best - you will see improvement each and every time. :)

Of course you can join. Having people at slightly different intervals is fine. It gives some people a chance to see what is coming and what to expect.

I'm finishing up my first P90X round on Thanksgiving weekend. I've already done rounds of Power 90 and Power 90 Master Series earlier this year before P90X.

I'm planning to take 1 or 2 weeks off, and then starting my second round on December 5th or 12th, depending how my body feels. Dealing with a little bit of overuse joint pain in my shoulders and knees, and want to see how they feel with a little rest before kicking off the 2nd round.

I will check back in on the thread to see how everyone's doing, and to offer my support!

We are less than three weeks aways from starting. I'm even giving you a chance to enjoy Thanksgiving. Again, you don't even need to do P90X to join the challenge. TurboFire, Ten Minute Trainer (for you busy folks) and Insanity (for you crazy folks) is more than welcome to join along. If you haven't tried the programs, now is the time to get one. If you have questions, just ask!
