right im not 100% sure on what my idea goal weight should be? ive estimated it to around 10stone (140lbs)
im 19 years old, height - 5 ft 7, current weight - 14stone (196lbs), weight when started 16.6 (230lbs)
any ideas if 10stone would be too 'skinny' for me? as im quite tall. or whether i could push and go a bit lower than that weight?
thanks in advanced

That seems kind of low, especially if you are at all muscular in build.0

I'm 5'8" and my ideal weight is 140 - 145 lbs with muscle definition.0

I'm 5'7 and 140 is my goal I don't think it's too low but if you get close to that and feel better at 145 or 150, you are still within a healthy BMI range. Just do what you feel comfortable with. Good luck! :flowerforyou:0

does it? i want to be nice and slim. i dont mind a little podge on my stomach, i dont want to be all skin and bones. i would like to fit into a size 10 UK clothes and feel comfortable in them.. or maybe i shoud head for 10.7 and see how i look and feel0 -
I'm 5'6 1/2 and my goal weight is 135.0

I would recommend dieting to a point that you're close to goal. Then get a test to measure your percentage of body fat. From there you can do the simple math to figure out how much farther to go for a healthy fat to lean ratio.0

No its not to low. I'm 5'8, muscular and I am 148 and still have some pounds to loose. Honestly i think I can go down to 1350

14 stone / 140 pounds is right in the middle of a "normal" BMI for your height, but BMI is really a very flawed tool.
How fit are you? How is your endurance/strength/muscle definition? How healthy do you feel? What is your Body Fat % and is it in a healthy range?
Those are really the questions you need to ask yourself -- and talk to your doctor about it, too.
At 5'10", I should weigh between 126 - 174 lbs (9 - 12.4 stone) according to my BMI, but according to my doctor I should weigh no less than 160 and would be perfectly healthy as high as 190 lbs. I weigh just under 170 now, which is within the healthy range according my doctor AND my BMI but, more importantly, I feel healthy, am fit and strong, and have 22% body fat, which is great.0 -
I'm about 5'10", and 145 lbs. is my goal. Right now I'm about 155, and a size US 8, so I think that's about a UK 10 or 12.
That's just an example that will maybe gauge and help sort out your weight loss goals.0 -
I think every build is different. My sister and I are both 5ft 7 but she suits 10st and everyone says 10 1/2 stone suits me as i look a little haggard at 10. The reason being is i am quite athletic and have more muscle than my sister and muscle obviously weighs more than fat so i need the extra weight. I think when you feel comfortable, fit in the clothes you want to and like the photos you see of yourself you know you have got there!!!! good luck0

To determine my ultimate goal weight - I will be watching my body fat percentage and how I feel as I get closer. I honestly have a 20 pound range that I am shooting for. Some people are willing to do what it takes to maintaing a very low body fat percentage. I won't know until I get closer what I will be willing to keep up doing.
I am 5'4''. Last time I was 140, I was wearing a U.S. size 1 and my bones were sticking out. I know that others at my height and at that weight are wearing much larger sizes. It will really depend on your build.0 -
Just keep losing until you look and feel healthy. Thats pretty much what I did and I think most people. Everyone has their weightloss goal and sometimes when they get there it isn't enough....or way too much.0

I go by how well my clothes fit.0

i shall have a look at this now, thankyou very much0 -
I say screw the weight and focus on the day-by-day healthy lifestyle. According to the BMI (for caucasians) I'm underweight (5'3, 100lbs), but I feel great and I'm very fit. I also eat quite a bit (5 meals, clocking in between 1200 and 1400 everyday). At the end of the day, I'm just focused on being healthier everyday and eating right. There's no such thing as being too light or too heavy if you're dedicated to health.0
