How does everyone count there water in take? I just had some McDonalds sweet tea and wondered if that counted toward my 64 oz of water, or should I just count "plain" water? Thanks!

sorry, just plain water..... nothing with caffeine or sugar allowed0

Oh boo! Ok, I had heard from other people that it would count or I wouldn't have had it! :grumble:0

it's a lot better than soda, but if it's sweetened....sorry0

Yeah, I would have said okay to regular tea, but sweat tea probably has over 100 calories in it so you need to log it with your foods.0

You should only count plain water toward your water intake. Drinks with sweeteners or flavors added shouldn't count - your body has to work more to break those down and use the actual water content in them.
Try buying a washable cup with a lid to reuse or disposable 8 oz plastic cups for at home, and keep that as your "water cup" - measure how much it holds and then just keep track of how many of those cups you drink. If cost doesn't matter to you - bottled water is an even easier way to keep track (though it's not great for the environment and it IS pricey).0 -
hey everyone! i was just reading the answers to her question, what about if you fill a large cup with water and ice and use a little crystal light? thats what ive been doing and i drink about four large cups a day.........does that count against me?0

From what I've read about water, if you drink something that has a composite of over 90% water, then you can count it. Your body processes drink mix, caffeine and other additives just as other foods, vitamins and minerals. If you're drinking a cola or tea, it's primarily water. Your body is still using the water portion to help transport oxygen through your blood cells.
P.S---adding flavored mixes to your water does not count against you!0 -
yay! thanks for the info!0

I just count plain ole H2O.
I don't even count my green tea. That is just a bonus. :drinker:0 -

I may have mis-read that, but I really don't think you should count sodas as water intake. From what I understand, soda actually DE-hydrates you. :huh:0 -
thanks so much i was hoping i didnt blow it all this time i have a huge glass with water and ice and i just sprinkle enough crystal light for flavor.0

I have been counting crystal light for bf as water. I'm a convert, started with Crystal Light (haven't had a soda since 1/16) and now I have two 32 oz bottles to drink and then I have water at the gym.....then Crystal Light with dinner......who would've thought?:drinker:0

That's what I thought. I do the same, drink all the H2O w/o anything added, then my tea or coffee is just added h2o0 -
What about orange juice?0
