Will I not lose weight if I am going over my sodium goals? I am always under all my other goals except sometimes sugar because I eat alot of fruit to and im drinking plenty of water but I have trouble staying under the goal set for sodium.

Will cause water weight gain if high enough. So it might mask fat loss0

^^This!
It won't prevent fat burn, but too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure and water retention.0 -
Less processed food -- this is the major factor in high sodium.
Also there are some sneaky things -- like cheese (very high in sodium)
I actually lowered mine to 2000 but i'm trying to stay under 1500 -- its extremely difficult.
I don't worry about it too much if its from good food and I try not to add extra salt to anything anymore.
Too much sodium will make you retain water and feel bloated but you can still lose if you have a calorie deficit.0 -
It does cause you to retain water however you can offset by drinking a ridiculous amount of water to flush your system out. That should balance everything out.0

i just looked at your diary. to get the sodium down you should try some less processed protiens and add in some leaner protiens chicken breast white meat turkey. fish. and maybe switch out you bread for sandwich thins and english muffin for bagle thins they have a lot less sodium in them hope this helps0

And finally from Jama
"These results do not support a general recommendation to reduce sodium intake."
Meta-analysis of 114 clinical trials.
Bottom line, more sodium, more water retention. Less sodium, more LDL cholesterol in your blood. Personally, I'd rather have the extra water.

my husband ate mac and cheese for dinner last night and tonight. I havd shrimp sauteed in no salt added chicken breast with frozen asparagus stir fry veggies and half cup of brown rice pasta with some ground ginger powder, onion and garlic powder. took about 10 mins tops with defrosting shrimp veggies and cooking. try to mix it up a little. when i shop i always look at the ingredients list and if salt is listed i dont buy it0
