O round and tan
Delicious and crisp
Juicy white flesh
I love to eat you.
O Potassium!
O Fiber!
Welcome to my stomach.
Thank you.
I just thought I would give some praise to my new favorite fruit. You can look up the data in the nutrition database, but at just over 100 Calories, there are 10 grams of fiber per 9.5 oz fruit.

I've seen them at my local grocery store but haven't tried them, do they taste like regular pears?0
-
They taste (and look, and feel!) like a cross between an apple and a pear. I don't like the skin, so I peel it, but YMMV.0

I'll have to get some this weekend when I buy groceries. Thanks for the new food, was getting tired of the reg apple, orange banana :flowerforyou:0

Sounds yummy buy aren't most of the fibers in the skin?0

Thanks for this awesome post. Currently, I AM IN LOVE WITH PEARS. Try the anjou type. They are heavenly.0

Nope. They are usually eaten without the skin. The skin contains high levels of tannin (the stuff that makes tea bitter). If you're familiar with the texture of the fruit, the fiber content shouldn't be too surprising.0 -
Asian pears are one of the many new fruits I've tried since being on my weight loss journey, and they are SO yummy! Every time I'm at the grocery store I try to find a new fruit or vegetable that I've never had...I've tasted mangoes, papayas, Asian pears, Italian prunes, pluots, pomegranates, pepino melons, etc. It's really broadened my horizons and helped me not to get bored with the typical fruits and veggies that I am used to eating.0

I fell in love with these last year when I first started MFP. I ate so many I got sick of them!!
I hardly eat them anymore but they are full of fiber, low cal, crisp and refreshing.0 -

I always ate mine with the skin--I did not find it to be bitter.0 -
I love asian pears! I have always eaten them with the skin on. I like the balance of the sweetness with the slight bitter taste of the peel. They are the perfect dessert to go with sushi!0
