Hello, new here, only been on the site a few weeks, but really liking it! So many of these posts have been so informative, thank you all! I had a few questions I was was hoping someone could help me with...

I dropped 4 lbs pretty quick, once I started eating healthier AND exercising. Now I've gained back 1.5 lbs, and I'm even currently "cleansing". I'm pretty good about the 8 cups of water, most days. I think I may be eating too few calories, hard to get that 1200 sometimes. I seem to hit one of two scenarios almost every day....under my calories or way over (if I indulge too much, old habits). Any suggestions on how to get in more calories and not go over on protein/fat/carbs? I seem to have the most trouble with protein, like it too much! I'm eating more than I ever have, so it's hard to imagine eating more, unless it's the "bad" stuff...I exercise 5 days a week, 3 days 30 DS & 2 days of jogging just a couple miles.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

:D Awesome! :D I'm happy for you! I'm doing the same thing too! Glad you like this place because I'm addicted to this site!! Haha... I have the similar situation as you too... so feel free to add me as buddy if you want (to anyone else out there too :P) And we can help each other then! Cheers~
  • Have you tried adding more high fiber fruits and vegetables to increase calories? I have always been told that it is okay to exceed protein because your body will discard the protein that is not needed. With the amount of exercise you are getting then extra protein is really, really important.

'm not a nutritionist, but I would recommend choosing high protein, high fiber fruits and vegetables. When picking the fruits, be sure to watch the fructose though. :)

Thank you so much! Yes, the fruits & veggies are a good idea, hard for me, but I need to do it. Are certain fruits high in fructose? I know too much fruit is not a good idea, just now sure about which ones.
  • The research that I have done says that in looking at total sugars in fruits, the highest sugar content are bananas, apples, grapes and cherries. The lowest total sugar content are avocados, tomatoes, lemons and limes.

A great vegetable to get a good punch of protein and fiber is edamame, unsalted of course!! a half cup of edamame is 120 calories, but you get 9 grams of fiber and 11 grams of protein.

    Good luck!
