I've lost 11lbs so far and now gone up 5lbs, I have switched to high protein and worked well last week but this week it doesn't seem to be working, any advice or tips would be much appreciated AND motivation, I'm drinking at least 10 glasses of water a day, going to the gym every night for half an hour so I don't know what more I can do!
Appreciate any advice no matter whether it's harsh or not!!!!
Good luck to you all!

What are you doing at the gym? If you are not sweating buckets and exhausted to the point of complete fatigue by the time you leave you may not be working hard enough. Do every muscle exercise to the point of Momentary Muscular Fatigue, then do it again and recommend heavy duty sprints for short durations but do a higher amount of them for cardio. After your workout you should feel completely done almost ready for a nap! If your not "done" your not done in the gym.0

I'll ask you this: If you are going to the gym every single day, when does your body have time to recover? I run 3x per week and had been stuck at a plateau for at least a month (2 - 4lb fluctuations). I took 4 days off, lost 4lbs, and haven't looked back since. Never underestimate the power of rest. After you rest a day or two, mix up your routine. The body can adapt relatively quickly to whatever exercise you're doing, so it's important to recognize those plateaus. Be ye not discouraged! Believe in me who believes in you! Plateaus suck, but just remember why you are doing this and let that be what you cling to. It will come; it's not a matter of if, but when! Good luck!0

Firstly, congrats on losing some weight already and being on here. Don't give up... the scale can fluctuate so much sometimes. If you are truly weight lifting at the gym, you can retain water just from that as your muscles need to heal. Are you eating back some of your exercise calories? Also make sure you measure yourself at least once every 30 days as my scale was not moving (even went up at times) but I had lost inches... that TOM has a lot to do with the scale with fluid retention, too much sodium, etc will definitely affect the scale so my advise would be to not worry so much about the scale and keep doing what you're doing. It'll eventually change and go in the other direction. If you are at 1200 cal per day possibly you should up it to only lose 1/2 lb per week then eat back at least 1/2 your exercise calories... bodies need fuel to lose, I know that sounds funny but does make sense. Good luck!! Don't get discouraged... :flowerforyou:0

Possibly your TOM? You can gain up to like 6 lbs right before. Its scary I know. I actually was kinda having the same problems, I'm down to the last couple pounds and they truely weren't coming off. I tried the whole cheating thing and then coming back to no avail. Then I remembered doing the 17 day diet and how the first level helped me drop weight faster. So I 1. Upped my calories. 2. Cut out all bread. 3. Cut out all pasta. 4. Cut out any grains by themselves. 5. Changed up my workout. 6. Changed up what I eat. And its worked so far. Its kind of a low carb diet but it seems by the end of the day, I'm getting in about half of what MFP reccomends. I still do protein bars, I still eat fruits. I still eat corn and potatoes. If its a veggie or a fruit, I am not restricting myself. Adkins diet is not for me lol. But anyways, I hope some of this helps and good luck to you! Congradulations on your weight loss thus far!0

Thanks all, Saffmeister I’ve heard that before and last week I had an injured knee so couldn’t go and did lose 4lbs!!
I’m not pushing myself hard enough I think, I mainly go on the cross trainer and treadmill but although sweat don’t feel achy or really wiped out! Can’t even use TOM as that was last week, I’m eating 1000/1200 cals a day but not eating back cals from exercise as gathered that defeats the object and if I stick with it I’ll lose it quicker – also stopped eating so much fruit and gone on to higher protein.
When I started nearly 5 weeks ago I totally cut out all wheat so no bread, pasta etc. and that helped big time…
I also bought 'Maxitone sculptress (diet) protein shake which I tried once and made me really bloated, think I might give it a go for a day see how it goes....heard Tony Ferguson is good mind you, and shakeology (but can't get that in the UK :-()
thanks so much everyone

You may not be eating enough calories and therefore your body doesn't want to get rid of anything. You might try upping your calorie uptake. And get some weight/strength training in, not just light cardio.
Good luck!0
