I'm looking for a beginner level strength training routine. I've weight trained before but I feel like I'm not doing the right things and I don't have the $$ to pay for trainer.

What are some of your suggestions?

If you want an easy to follow but very solid beginner routine look for information on 5x5 programs like Stronglifts 5x5. It is not an easy program because of the weights you should be using to push yourself but very simple and effective for beginning lifters.

My beginner routine(after a long break) is always stationary bike 15min, elliptical 10 minutes, treadmill 15minutes..( I use my own pace and resistance and increase it over a period of 15days) followed by stretching! Swimming is also a good workout! Hope this helps. Then you can jump on to yoga, kickboxing, fast paced cardio exercises, and eventually boot camp!

if you go to the 'fitness' equip section of walmart or target they have DVDs - Prevention and Biggest Loser have some good beginner strength training DVDs
I like kettlebells. I started with THE FIRM kettlebell routine, I don't like weight lifting. However, a lot of women here swear by RULES OF WEIGHT LIFTING FOR WOMEN or something like that- I haven't checked it out

    good luck!

How about cheap/free 5 starred apps on iTunes? Or youtube for form? Good luck!
