I read a post on here a couple of days ago regarding the running vs. walking debate. Now obviously running would burn more calories than walking for the same amount of time. However when you are like I am and you have a lot of health issues, bad knee and you just hate running, walking is a great form of exercise and you can burn just as many calories as running in the same amount of time when you increase that incline. It is a great workout and any exercise is better than none! Just my two cents.

Do whatever works for you! Don't focus so much on the calories burned; do what makes you feel good! I'm so glad you found a routine that you like :D

Im not that old, not that over weight, however it doesn't matter where i run how far i run or how fast i run I always end up hurting my foot so for me running is out of the question I speed walk and for me thats good enough (for now)...

On January 1st of this year, I started began to record my calories and control my diet. I weighed in at 272 pounds. I started a walking program in March walking for 30 minutes at 3.5 miles per hour 6 days per week for the first month or so. I am now walking an hour per day at a rate of 4.5 miles per hour. I do this 6 days a week. Walking really works...as much as I hate to admit it because I love to run. It is much easier on the knees and ankles, I have a bad knee so I know! I've lost 80 pounds to this day and feel great. Walk or run....it's up to you. Just get active in either one and the pounds will come off provided you maintain a healthy diet.

Hey, the only debate is amongst those who need some cheap drama. I do both, and actually walk more often than run. Walking is great excercise and it's ironic that I usually have to sell my clients on it. It's free, it's low impact, it requires no special equipment, iit is the one form of excercise we will be able to do all our lives (hopefully!), and it gets you outside to enjoy nature when possible.

If it is working for you then go with it! : )
