Irrational Fear?

Ok, so this is probably silly because it's based on TV, but I saw an episode of House where this girl got really sick because she finally got in shape and stopped eating sweets and she had this condition she wasn't aware of where her body needed sweets. I've always been a really unhealthy eater and now that I'm dieting successfully, my body is in revolt. I have all these weird aches and pains in my joints (I'm only 20!) that were never there before. Am I crazy or is there any foundation for my paranoia?

It never hurts to check with your doctor. You maybe missing something in your diet or you are just working very hard & are naturally sore.

I saw something on 60 minutes about how a certain noise can send a vibration to your heart that causes it to stop working and instantly kills you.

I still remember the story of someone's birthday and a balloon popped and the person died o_o

I still get scared of balloons popping...and out-of-the-ordinary sounds xD

So...my answer to your question is...

I think we are both crazy. Welcome and Congratulations~!

What the WHAT?! I didn't need to hear this...

I have an irrational fear of bugs crawling into my ears and laying eggs. o_O

Maybe we're all crazy.. and need to stop watching so much t.v. lol

But OP, I would check with a doctor just to be on the safe side to make sure you're healthy. It might be too much exercise too soon, or your body is just getting used to what's going on. Getting a checkup to see where you're at now is a good idea, to make sure you're getting the nutrients you need, etc.

I think the very last word of your post defines all of the problem.

If you are working out more now that you are getting healthy, your body is used to being sedentary. Are you taking calcium and vitamin D?

My mum went to the doctors with earache and turned out she had a spider in there. Disgusting! I'm petrified of them. I cried as much as she did, now my hair is always down when I go to sleep! Extra precaution!

Not sure how you've changed your diet to lose weight but it could be that you're missing some nutrient too - low potassium or other vitamins/minerals, not enough healthy oils in your diet, dehydration...any of these could be a cause. Or it could be that you're working out too hard as someone else mentioned. The best person to talk to about this is your doctor, not a bunch of strangers on the internet. Good luck and please take care of yourself!

Missing out on calcium? Would be best for a check up, but also if you've really made a huge change it excercise and diet, your body is think what the heck is going on, and you'll notice the aches and pains abit more than usual

Thank you for all the helpful responses, and the funny ones too! Especially whoever it was that posted a link to an article about hypochondria. (A riddle: If I think I have hypochondria, does that make me a hypochondriac??) I can see now it was a little ridiculous to post this question, but I appreciate all the answers! I will take into account all of your good advice. :)
