I am so frustrated.
So you dont log in what you eat or exercise until after you do it? so then the major dieting changes need to happen at dinner because at that point you can see what calories are left to eat? or do you plan day out ahead of time?
Computer says 1200 calories daily- so i dont get what is best route to lose weight- hitting 1200 calories but with healthier foods or eating less than 1200 calories?
if i type and plan my whole day out with food and exercise, but my profile is set to say "want to lose 2 pds a week" why does computer say after i have logged in a day , "if every day was like this you would weigh_ lbs after 5 weeks. i am eating under 1200 and it is predicting i would lose maybe 6 lbs after 5 weeks instead of 2 lbs. per week.

I log my calories for the day when I know what they'll be. That keeps me accountable. Also helps that I eat a lot of the same foods on a daily basis!
I would totally ignore the pop-up that says "you'll weigh X in Y weeks." I actually laugh at it, I think it's completely off the mark.
I'm not even going to get into eating 1200 calories or less per day!!!0 -
I always log my food the day before, that way I know where I am at.
Just make good choices, and stay around 1200 NET calories for the day and you should be fine.
Good luck!0 -
I work out after breakfast, so I can plan the rest of my meals afterwards, but I still have a good idea of what am I gonna have that day.
I'd say never go under 1200 calories, it's too low.0 -
If you only have 20lbs to lose, then you cant create enough of a deficit healthily to lose 2lbs per week. Your predicted loss is probably closer to 1 lb a week.0

After a while you to get to know what to eat (and not) and how many extra calories you can gain through exercise. Don't be frustrated - just stick with it and you will find you do get to understand it and yourself!0

Are you short? When I first joined I set my loss at two pounds per week. But that would only allow me to lose 1.2 pounds (projected).0 -
Even though I don't exercise until the middle of the afternoon, I enter it in at the beginning of the day. That way I know what my calories should be throughout the day and I know I can eat more in the morning. I don't plan out exactly what I eat ahead of time...I just have several healthy choices available so I decide what I'm hungry for at the time and input it into MFP as I eat it. Although if I know what I'm having for dinner ahead of time, I might put it in earlier in the day so I have a better idea if I have room for an early snack.0

Eating less than you burn (exercise + being alive) helps you lose weight.
Eating healthy foods keeps you healthy.
You can gain weight eating healthy food and you can lose weight by eating junk food. Obviously, the trick is to be eating less and healthier.
I used to plan every day the night before. Now I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going that I just log as the day goes along. It takes practice.0 -
I usually log everything except dinner either the day before, or in the morning. I keep dinner open so I can make adjustments if something comes up during the day - either an unexpected snack because I was unusually hungry, or my workout calories are different than I expected, etc.
I usually know what I will have for dinner, and just adjust the portions when I get to it to try to stay within goal.0
