I have been told some things about weight lifting and Im just not sure. So Im hoping you guys can help me or give me some ideas.
I do free weights for 20 minutes. How much weights should I be using?
Other thing is when I do the machines. How much weight should I be using. Do I put weight on there so its really hard and do 15 reps
or should I put like 30 lbs and do 3 sets of 30? I was told to do the 3 sets of 30llbs.
Cause I want to lose weight not get really bulky...
I hoope someone can help me and get ime in the right direction....

1. you wont get bulky unless you are a guy.. you will however get a little larger but its muscle so will look better than fat!
2. Lift heavy, aim for 8 - 10 rep IMO and try to do maybe 3/4 sets
Thats my tuppence0 -
Women can't get big without steroids or SERIOUS diet and training. If you are starting out I would choose a weight that you can lift with good form for a max of 12 reps. Start with one set and work up to three. Strength training is the best way to lose weight as muscle burns more fat at rest and you get an after burn effect from lifting weights that you don't get with low/slow cardio. Oxygen Magazine is a good resource. If you have a gym membership see if you can get a few visits with a trainer. I usually lift 2x /week, and as you can see here - no bulky muscle!

I have a gym. But its a small town. SO we dont have any trainers. Thats the hard part. SO you are on your own. Thats why Im not sure what to do.0
