jumpers knee and exercise

hi
i have got jumpers knee problem i.e. i have pain in knee tendons
went to doctors and she suggested not to use my knee during exercise and rather do swimming etc
my qs is as i m unable to go to my gym 3-4 days a week, wat cardio exercise can i do at home
cant leave exercise else i wont loose a single decimal pound
another qs is has any1 idea f wat kind of knee support band is good to use , saw one like a sleeve n another just a strap
Also read in one topic some1 was doing p90x n elliptical trainer, do u recommend it, i havent done p90x so i hav no clue wat kind of workout it is

I've had some of those problems. You need to take some time off to let things rest and heal. Icing and advil got me through most of that. When you're ready for exercise, I found that biking was great. No pounding on the knees and no over-extending like for running and changing direction (played a lot of basetball when I had this problem). Just take it easy and slowly get back into it. I would ask the doctor or a physical therapist what types of exercises you can do to help strengthen the knees and what kinds of stretches you can do to help prevent more injury. We just got done dealin with this for my daughterwho is 14. Basically rest is the best cure. The doc told us a knee brace wouldnt make it worst nor better so we choose not to use one. She was diagnosied with this right at the begining of volleyball so had to sit out whole season which killed her. Be very careful on what u do if it hurts stop. Once u get the imflammation down and let it rest u can go back to doin what u want. Doc told her to slowly get back into her activities and if any activity hurt then to stop and try a different one. U need to keep the bendin motion of your knee to a minimal. Might have to adjust your diet for a bit since u wont b as active. My daughter who is over weight did manage to lose some weight. Hope this helped alittle.0

I have what's called floating patella syndrome in modern day english which means that there is nothing but bone on bone holding my knees in place. It's very painful. Jogdog is right; you definitely need to let it rest and recoup for a bit. Strengthen it with stretches. I have found that elliptical type excercises and swimming are easier to do and still show results. Unfortunately with knee issues, you just have to work through the pain sometimes. Just not before you have given it adequate time to heal.0

Then after that, is it just high impact stuff you can't do? If so, you could swim, cycle and fast walk (walking fast around hills is great exercise!). Then you could try Yoga or Pilates, too.
P90X may not be ideal. You could maybe do half of the program but the Plyometrics workout would be out as there is a lot of jumping, and I daresay most of the leg workouts would be out, too, due to squats, lunges and isometric leg work. Even the P90X Yoga can be tough on knees IMO, as Tony goes overboard on the Warrior poses, I suspect because he wants to persuade yoga newbies that Yoga is a "hardcore workout."
Really, if all you can do is bicycle/spin, you'll get all the cardio you'll need. But there are still other options if you can't do these, such as swimming, water aerobics, fast walking, possibly the elliptical etc.0 -
It's usually going to be tendinitis in the patellar tendons and unless you stop exercising altogether, it never goes away. Getting warmed up really good with dynamic stretching helps then a good knee strap (strap you wear just under the knee cap) will help to reduce the pain when you exercise. After it's ice and ibuprofen.0

Yes i have exactly this issue and I can't even walk properly
Think I need to wait till I can go to the pool
