I exercise at least five times a week for approximately 90 minutes. I have noticed more and more that althought I feel great, I can really become snappy very quickly. I normally a very easy going person, but I realize that my patience level is shot after a workout. Someone told me it's because of latic acid. Is this true?

  • Recently I'm the same way. My logic is I'm becoming more aggressive because I have a really good idea that I can take anyone who irks me at this point. lol It's my alpha male coming out. I'm not sure about the chemical reason though.

Working out for 90 minutes at a time is a very long period. Maybe your blood sugar is getting really low? One of the main symptoms of low blood sugar is agitation/aggressiveness/short temper. Along with possible trembling, weakness, nausea, lightheadedness, etc..

Try drinking a protein shake/sports drink/something with sugar in it after your workout. See if you feel better in a few minutes.

Lactic acid generally gives you that soreness/burning feeling in your muscles. I've never felt cranky because of that though. Low blood sugar definitely does, I found myself driving very aggressively on the way home from the gym, and being short tempered around the house until I ate. I am an extremely relaxed person normally so this was a glaring change.
