So last night I was unable to take my dog for our nightly walk - - it was nasty, rainy and just plain yuck out. So I grabbed some 5 lbs weights and during my 8:00 show when commercials came on I got up and did some squats, lunges, upper arm exercises and other things. There were 5 commercial breaks average time for each break was 4 min so I could have gotten in a 20 min workout- but my elbow was hurting so I only did 3 breaks with the weights and just got up and moved around during the other 2. So I am just wondering what does everyone else do on those days that you can not get outside or just plain don't wanna get outside to get some exercise? I know going to the gym would work but looking for some "creative" things to do. Thanks

you could buy a jump rope to get in some cardio. cheap and easy! i'm lucky, i was able to use some money from my tax return a few years ago to buy an elliptical which i have set up in the basement in front of our tv. so when it's icky out (or if i just want to burn a few extra caloried) i can just put on one of my favorite shows and hop on the elliptical.

I call her Ms. Jackson... oh, wait, sorry...

I put on a waterproof jacket and get jogging/walking. If it's REALLY bad I just try to make it up the next day.

I just bundle up and go do it. Raingear and waterproof shoes. Even the dogs wear slickers on really rainy days. They need to walk just as much as we do, and once you're out there, it's not that bad - kinda fun actually!

wii fit or a workout dvd. I like to get them at the library so I know whether or not I like them.

I just go out and do it. Put on a hat with a brim (e.g., a baseball cap) and a raincoat over layered clothing and go! I might leave the dog at home (s/he is not getting a workout anyway if you stay in), but I never work out as hard indoors as I do when I go out and run. So I go out and run anyway.

My only caveat is if there is a lightning storm, I won't go out, since that could be dangerous. I'll do what I can otherwise (Wii dance games and/or Wii Fit, sometimes Jillian Michaels videos) or just take the day off if it's been a while since I had one.
