I can not live w/o my HRM, the only place i do not wear it is in bed, not to say I haven't tried that
  • thats some signature you got there ^^ hehe :]

I just go by what mfp says :] type in strength training and you should see it

I dunno, my HRM says I'm burning at least something when I'm doing weights or something that's not cardio. Its usually not very high though, because my heart rate isn't up. Unless its 30DS where she has me lifting weights and doing squats, then my heart trys to explode and I get bonus calories. lol

So I say a HRM is just fine for sculpting, lifting, and toning.

HRM will over estimate cals burned during strength training as the calculation in the HRM assumes a certain oxygen uptake that occurs during steady state cardio. Having said that you could use it to get an estimate and just don't eat them all back, or enter "strength training" in the cardio section and use MFP's estimate.

HRM works for both I have used mine while running and I have used mine while doing Chalean Extream I have noticed when I run my fitness time recorded is longer than fat burn and when I lift my fat burn time is longer than my fitness. Dont know if that makes sence. LOL!! I have a polar ft7

I haveseen and experienced MFPs estimates being way to high so How do I figure it out myself?

I do cardio before I lift to get my heart rate up...then I lift heavy and my heart rate stays up. So I definitely think you burn calories while lifting. And you continue to burn calories after you stop. Also, MFP's estimates are actually fairly close to my HRM, which is a FT7.

You definitely burn calories while lifting. I use my HRM during weight lifting and never felt like it was way off. You exert yourself a lot if you are lifting to failure (when your body won't let you do another rep) and that's what you want to do.
