Don't take it, but those are all common side effects.

I just switched from Cymbalta to Prestiq yesterday. Hopefully the switch will be good. I was only on Cymbalta about a month and a half, but it gave me hot flashes and I had a very difficult time sleeping. I would be sleepy, but I couldn't sleep. It also seemed to make me more depressed than I was when I started taking it. I've steadily gone downhill over the last few weeks. If it doesn't feel right to you, go see your doctor about switching you to something else.0

My close cousin has been on Cymbalta, and had similiar side effects in the beginning. I think they subsided after she got used to the dosage. All the literature says to allow 6 weeksto judge how any mood kind of drug will affect you, but sometimes it's hard to wait those out -- that's a long time. I guess it depends on your dosage, too -- the higher the dose, the more side effects, generally.
If those side effects don't ease for you, ask about Zoloft. I've been taking it myself for a while, and I had no side effects, even at the beginning.
Good luck!! It's tough to acclimate to these things. Hang in there.0 -
If you are having those kinds of issues, you need to consult your doctor.0

I was on Cymbalta for depression/anxiety for 1.5 years, and have just gotten off a few months ago. It was the answer for me. After the ramp-up I only had side effects when I missed or was late on a dose- little vertigo, sweats, distracted/craving/fidgety feeling. always got better pretty quickly after I took the dose.
Honest warning: a lot of people have a lot of trouble weaning off cymbalta, there are horror stories everywhere online. Be prepared to take your dose ON TIME and spend a few weeks weaning off. I had an insurance interruption once and it was SCARY.
I had previously tried Prozac which helped but I couldn't handle the side-effects. I know how hard it can be to let go of something that's helping a little but has bad side effects in order to try something which might not work at all, or might be perfect. It's worth the effort to find something that works though!
Side effects are much worse when you're increasing or decreasing dosage, so it will probably get better a week or so after you finish ramping up the dosage. But- if the effects are really bad, tell your doctor and try something else. Finding the right med is quite a journey.0 -

It hasn't stopped me up....which, I need to start a poop thread since we haven't had any today. Thanks for reminding me.....anywho, it did make me sweat all the time. Or I would just be really, really, really hot in a cold room.
Depression hurts, Cymbalta helps.....except, it really didn't help me. I went all worthy of being featured on "Snapped"0 -
oh and it made me gain weight which is why I'm here. That's common with most of those drugs though.0

Thank you!! I took my first dose last night. Not sure if it was that or just the fact that I was soooooo drained, but I slept better than I have in a very long time!0
